Hi guys , I would really appreciate some help .

I was wondering if anyone has tried a magnifier with a Reap Ir 35mm ?

I’m looking to get a type 2 but I’m not sure wether to get a 35mm or 60mm .

If it’s possible to use an Afocal magnifier I’d go with a 35mm .

My shots would be 20yds - 200yds . But I’d also be using it to watch the property & wildlife , Not On Rifle .

I’m kind of thinking the 60mm might be a little much for 20yds or so , nothing would be in focus & a tiny FOV but I’m not sure .

Also has anyone used a GoPro Hero 6 Black & adaptor for through the lense video . Does it work well ?

Thanks for any help , DRAHT01

Wig or Pete would be the guys to ask this type of question, because they have already tried it or
already know if it will or will not work.

I believe I read Wig state Afocal magnifiers can only be applied and used on base native 1X units..

Not sure how the Reap2 is set up with its offerings of different sizes on the platform.

... shots would be 20yds - 200yds ...

... the 60mm might be a little much for 20yds or so ...

The 19mm is great for under 100yds ... down to 1 yard (critter at your feet). And on 2x digital works fine for shot placement out to 200yds. On the REAP2, the 19mm is 1.5 optical and 3.0 when on 2x digital. For your purposes, that sounds pretty ideal.

Most of the critters I get are within 100yds of my chicken coop and within 100yds of me and I've been mostly using 1x thermals. FOV is king for under 100yds.

I got a 60mm Mk3 last January. I "upgraded" my mk3 35mm ... the mk3 60mm is the second best thermal spotter we can buy ... but at the same time, I got a new M300W to fill in the low end, 1x, for under 100yds. I also have ODIN, COTI and SKEET for 1x work as well.

You can put any magnifier that will fit, on any device. The reason they don't make so many of them to fit the larger, already optically magnified thermals, is lack of demand. But if you can find one that fits, it will work. But what does "work" mean. The magnifiers that are made for the Patrol, for instance are held on by a pressure clamp and if you shoot them they will move and/or fall off. So, that's why we've been working on a threaded version and that actually works now. So if you want to shoot a magnifier off a thermal, you need one that fits AND you need it threaded.

I should have it mid week , I won’t be able to really put it through it’s paces for a

while , I’m healing up from a hip replacement .

What are your thoughts on the GoPro adaptor for through the eyepiece recording .

Thanks , DRAHT01

Not sure which one you mean ... but if I was gonna get serious about thru the lens recording ... I would go with this critter ..

Well the deadeye shown above, is the Torrey Pines GoPro adaptor ... everybody has a GoPro adapter I guess ... but the deadeye seems to be the "bees knees" in the GoPro adapter space for thru the lens video.

WHBD , I Thank YOU for the kind offer . But I think that might be kind of big for my needs also if I get a GoPro adaptor

I’ll pick up the new Hero 7 Black or a Hero 6 Black for it . I saw were a gentleman on another site made one & had a

tutorials on it . Maybe I’ll try that for now & see how I like it .

Also theres an LPMR that looks interesting.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the help . DRAHT01
