Rear bumper sill protection

I'm trying to protect the sill area of my rear bumper from getting scratched by my dog. I currently have a brushed aluminum plate secured by 3M tape, but debris builds up underneath and makes cleaning a PITA. Also, its smooth so my dog's nails slide right off and dig into the bumper. Ideally, I'd find a product like Line-X or another spray in bedliner and have the entire sill area coated, but have been unable to find a local dealer to do this. They all claim that the product won't stick to plastic. I've thought about using plasti-dip, but my research has found that several users had tears/chips in it so I'm not sure if its durable enough. I've considered the 3M tape, but have heard that dog nails can go right through it. I'm starting to consider some non-skid epoxies, but curious about bonding to plastic and color-fade. Any ideas? Color-wise I'd like it to be dark black, clear, or non-metallic silver.

Thanks.

Re: Rear bumper sill protection

When you say 3m tape? Do you mean the clear plastic that they use to protect painted areas? The only idea I have is there are companies that can custom cut large clear plastic sheeting. The bed liner probaly will not work due to the bumper flexes to much.

Try some of the non-skid tape that is used in industrial areas. Where I work, we use it on ladders, handholds, etc. If it will stand up to some 250# grumpy steelworkers in heavy boots, it should stand up to your hound.

Also, if you go to a Lowe's or Home Depot they should have something similar that folks use on decks to prevent slipping. Very gritty and easy to apply.
