Yes, Dewey's have male threads on the end but there are thread adapters that convert them , no biggie. I havent had a problem with my 17,22,27 and 35 cal Dewey rods.
i got a carbon fiber one from optics planet made by gunslick along with their bore guide and brushes. free shipping. construction looks good, brass tip and muzzle guide i think. the cone shaped thing. its on sale too

+1
I used the Dewey (nylon covered)for years. Occasionally I would inadvertently drop it on the ground and the nylon would pick up dirt and sand that would permanently imbedded itself and ruin the rod. I now have converted to Tipton carbon fiber rods and am completely satisfied.
I have coated Dewey and Tipton carbon fiber. Both are good but I prefer the Tipton CF because nothing can get imbedded in the coating plus it has a normal end and doesn't require special adapters or brushes etc like the Dewey.
Any good SS rod such as the above^.
I don't like CF at all OR coated. IF you can keep your coated rod clean of embedded carbon, glass, dirt and everything else then they would be ok too. Good luck with that
Quite a few CF rods have poor fittings which don't align, break or have other problems.

go with a carbon fiber one, coatings will wear and get scratched off and then you'll have a brass or stainless rod
Tipton.
Most dewey rods need adaptars because their threads are funky.
I bought a dewey and none of the threads on the jigs/brushes would watch up with it with out an adapter. Dewey rods are great rods dont get me wrong but I dont feel like getting a adapter. But I now use Tipton rods.
My Dewey rods all came with the adapter, and some with a jag too. I have also tried a Pro-Tec carbon rod until the brass fitting with the threads pulled off of the rod. I then tried to contact them to use the lifetime warranty and never got anyone to answer their phone. So much for that experiment!
I do Deweys. I dont like the fact that their threads are "funky" but I do like the wat they work. They are good rods. I always recommend that you have more than one incase you task takes more than one tip.
yeah, I lost the adapter on my dewey, and the thing is basically useless now LOL, guess I need to source another one. It is a nice rod other than the adapter issue
My Dewey came with the Adapter and a Jag. I bought the Dewey Parker Hale jag. The adapter stays on the brush that I am using at the time. Really no hassle at all.
I have a .30 and just bought a .22 and a chamber cleaning kit. They are very high quality rods.
after a few Deweys I tried a Bore Tech.
Now I only own Bore Tech, the coating is much harder
the handle and bearings are much better.
You get what you pay for in this case.
I dont like the Idea of having a uncoated steel rod falling on
the crown of my barrel when the brush and patch are pushed through.

You need the SMBA # 234-800-223 adapter for .224 rods. You might want to also look at these - # 084-418-022. They don't need an adapter and they're great brushes.
I use DEWEY coated, I have a tipton carbon fiber rod but one day I was looking over my hunting bow and noticed how the arrows "carbon fiber" were wearing into the stainless steel rest and knowing that they really arent under pressure of any kind just gliding across it, It made me re-think the cleaning rod I was using. I know that we all use a bore guide and there may be different grades of carbon fiber but I figured why flirt with something that has potentially abrasive qualities about it. Just my 2 cents.
i have a dewey, a hoppies elite coated rod (i like this one huge handle), and a tipton carbon fiber one...i think that i like the carbon fiber one the best though...
