I recently acquired the basis for my long range precision build -- a Savage 11 hunter XP in .308 (center feed 4.4", DBM). It is the bare bones model with the flimsy plastic stock and no accutrigger. I am planning on rebarreling in .260, and replacing everything but the bolt and receiver. I am currently trying to figure out which stock to go with. I would prefer something with an aluminum bedding block, and I don't want it to be too ridiculously heavy as this is not going to be a bench gun. Also it will need to be compatible with bottom metal that accepts AI mags. Intended uses are long range precision classes, maybe some sniper/LRP competitions, and 2nd Amendment purposes.
I have read about a lot of options, but I want to make sure I am not overlooking any, and mostly I am wanting input from those who have actually have experience with some of them.
I am considering anything from a used take-off Accustock, up to the full chasis setups like McRee. I'm not too worried about the price as long as it has the features to justify it. So if you would, please give me your pick, and why you say so.
