How is this? I read where it was a lot like Varget. I have some that I want to try with some 155 Amax. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott.
RL15 is almost interchangeable with Varget. Worked well with the 168 SMKs for me. I am sure it will work well with the 155 gr bullets, so give it a shot if you have it on hand. Personally, I use a slightly faster powder for 155s, namely H4895.
I have shot 150 SMK's with 44 grains of RL15, Winchester Large Rifle Primer and a LC case. Right around 2875 FPS. Same load in CAVIM brass was 2725 FPS.
You should be in the same ball park with the 155's.
Thanks for asking this. When I went to buy everything I needed to start reloading, they were out of Varget so I went with RL15 (for 175 SMK's). So far it has seemed okay, but I'm still new.
I switched from Varget to Rl-15 for 2 years.
Switched back to Varget and stayed there. In casual shooting and F class stuff there was always that unexplained flyer and group sizes that could have been just a bit better. Going back to varget solved the issues for me. Have had identical experience
varget vs rl-15 in my 338-06 rifle.
