Reloading Bench Porn

Currently rebuilding my current workspace for reloading. My previous bench was a little under 4 feet. I extended it using a 1.5" thick - 98" long butcher block and reinforcing the joints, under table storage, etc. I have some extra goodies to enhance my existing Inline Fabrication collection. Should be done next week...

A couple of items. If you even dream of ever using a beam scale (always nice to have one around, great as a backup as well as verifying that the electronic is still on track). As I said, if you ever dream of using a beam scale, have it EYE Level. Its a real pain if its lower and totally unusable if its higher. When it is eye level, it saves your neck and time.

if you plan on using RCBS equipment, one of their Accessory Plates is a great addition. Let’s you add tools when you need them, right where you need them and then get them out of the way when you‘re finished.

Finally, with Dillion and I believe other presses as well, the strong mounts move the presses away from the table’s edge. It puts the stress more towards the center of the table and not on the edge.

To echo, if you’re planning on neck turning it also is much more comfortable to mount the tooling as high as practical.

This was my Son’s bedroom. It works for me to load and for gun maintenance. The AMP is the only annealer I would use indoors.

I load mostly precision ammo and some cowboy action for rifle and revolver. I’d like to thank my Son for moving out a dozen or so years ago. My Wife is much happier since she now has her laundry room all to herself.

Laminated 2x4 top is totally unnecessary. Honestly, 3 2x10’s will give you 30 inches deep by whatever length you need. Solid, sturdy, and cheap.

A sheet of 3/4 inch plywood on top of a good frame will work as well...forever. You can have the hardware store cut it to size. Laminate a couple sheets for more thickness.

If you want really thick, laminate 3 sheets of MDF, round over the edges, and soak in tiny oil. Will be dead flat, heavy as fuck, and last forever.

The mentioned sams club bench is probably your best bet today. Just put it together and start reloading. Keep in mind the force of returning the press handle and seating primers. If you have a lightweight bench, it could lift.

I would also hang some peg board over it for holding commonly used tools.

This is my mobile reloading bench. A Sam’s club special rolling thing. Has been in use since I bought it in 2005. Have had a Dillon 550 on it, and now a T-7. This one is the one I take on all of my moves.

Made the custom top out of granadillo.
