thinking of buying one for some yote hunting, just wondering if anyone is using this cal for this purpose i know there are better cal, but i dnt care i own a 223 and a 308 just want something diff to play with

If you plan on running subs, go for it. If not, look at the 6.8 SPC. I built one in the MSR platform and it had quickly become my favorite coyote rifle. Shooting 90gr HP at 2900 FPS out of an 18" bbl. You could do even better with a bolt gun, I'm limited by mag length so can only load out to 2.295

I have one. Very fun, the stock is flimsy and mine had a very rough bore. I bought it with the intention of shooting cast bullets subsonic. I haven't gotten it to shoot with cast... Yet. I recently fire lapped it and improved my supersonic jacketed grouping considerably. If you've got a suppressor this would make a pretty good coyote gun (300 yards would probably be max range d/t poor bullet expansion). Keep a subsonic round in the chamber while calling and if the dog comes in close pop him quietly and maybe get his buddy to come in too. If he doesn't get to close jack in a super sonic round and let fly! You could do the same thing with a 223 but everybody has one of those

i live in illinois so i cant have a can, i plan on reloading since i cant find any factory ammo anywhere i got a shit ton of 223 brass im going to take and cut and resize for the blackout

I've just started playing with 300blk. Very easy to load accurately. I also like that the components are "out of the norm" for most reloaders, so usually easy to find in stock. 357 Magnum powders under 125gr SMK produce sub-MOA groups from my 16" AR15. Most reloaders horde Varget and 168/175gr bullets...so the lighter weight stuff sits around and is available. Toughest part of reloading for it has been finding small rifle magnum primers...I stashed up on a few cases of them before everybody became guntarded...for S's and G's, I tried cci #400 primers with no difference in 100yd accuracy.

I've gotten sub-moa ten shot groups at 100 yards with the 125 TNT's and lil'gun. While forming the brass is simple it is a pita (major pita IMO). It's not to hard to find converted brass and well worth the money. If you're using a bolt action you should be loosing as much as you would with an ar so splurge and get some of the Nosler brass

i have a question im looking at dies for the blackout can i use my 308 bullet seating die on it, and being since im shooting a bolt gun do i need to get the crimp die

testing out some loads yesterday and have a question, when i shoot i notice some times the smoke from the powder comes out the bolt and other places is this normal with pistol powder in a rifle i checked the brass for signs of pressure and there is none

crimping the 300BLK has shown to lower ES's in a lot of cases.

Although to be fair some of the most accurate loads have had really huge ES's.

While I love this caliber it seems to be a little finicky in regards to consistency of speed, but it still produces great end results which seems kind of ass backwards as far as accuracy is concerned.

extreme spread: basically the difference from fastest to slowest FPS in a string of shots.

Over on 300blktalk the theory is that the light crimp helps with neck tension consistency since most people are using converted brass which has all kinds of varying tolerances and thus varying neck tensions or at least the possibility is there vs. single head stamp REAL 300BLK brass which should, again in theory, be more consistent than mixed head stamp converted brass. I dont believe most people are doing it to avoid setback.

For $15 for the Lee FCD, its a cheap price to pay even if its just for testing. If it improves your ammo, its a good investment, if it doesnt do anything, well you are out $15 which isnt much in the grand scheme of this game.

But, with all that said, I have seen some incredible groups from shot strings that had crazy(like 100FPS crazy) extreme spreads. 300BLK seems to have a mind of its own some times and what shouldnt(high ES) produce good results does and things that should(low ES) produce good groups, dont.
