My better half's mother called and said she wanted to get all of the guns from her deceased husband out of the house. Everyone was home for Thanksgiving and these were brought up.

Greg the son is taking most all of the guns. I am getting a Remington 1903A4. All original not messed with in any way. It is missing the scope. It did not come with one when he got it back in 1960 straight from the Rock Island Armory In Rock Island Illinois.

So, I need to get the gun from her in the next week or two. I am going to need to find a scope. I don't care if it is a repo or original. Anyone know where one could be found?

I will get pics when I get it in my hands.

In terms of reproduction scopes, the Hi-Lux/Malcolm M82 and M73 scopes are good to go... I have an M82 on my 1993a-faux. In some ways they’re better than the originals in that the glass is clearer and they’re nitrogen purged. Be aware that the first generation of M73 repro Hi-Lux made had some issues.

If you want the real thing look for a Lyman Alaskan or a Weaver 330, both with the German reticle and both 2.5x. Be aware they have really gone up in price tho.

Did you ever get the A4? Originally, these rifles had a 3/4 inch Weaver 330 series scope on it. The Redfield rings were split top. Korea rebuilds saw M81s, 82s, and 84s installed. Depending on which scope was installed, either a Redfield split-top or 2-piece were used. At the beginning of "Nam, some of the A4 were retro-fitted with Weaver 1 " tubed 60-B-4s.

Any of these would be correct for the rifle.
