Ok, the wife just got me a Rem 700 SPS Tac. She also got me a Millett TRS-1 (4-16 X 50) and Picatinny Rail for it. The only thing that she did not get was tha rings. I have looked at Millet's web site and see that the offer tactical rings. I don't know if I should go with low, med or hi rings. I don't know the spec's of them. If some one could give me a little help it would be great. Like I said I'm a noob.

Give Brownell's a call 800-741-0015 and ask for tech staff.
Tell them what you have and they have the data to tell you exactly what you need. My guess would be mediums and Millet rings would not be my first choice. I find Warnes to be bullet proof.
Be sure you get rings for a rail and not Weaver bases as they are different.
Sounds like a nice rig, get to wearing out the barrel!

I've had that exact setup and you need low rings. You'll have plenty of clearance and your scope won't be set too high. Don't get the Millet rings. I've had them and they suck! If you're on a tight budget get Burris XTR's in low. If you want the best go with Badger Ordinance or Seekins! You can't beat the Burris rings for the price though. Just my opinion!

+1 on the XTR's. Had to lap mine a little but they are a good stought ring and well worth the $.

Low will work, you may be able to get away with extra low though, depending on the manufacturer and the height. I have a 56mm objective scope and with v-tac low rings I still have over 1/4" clearance. Find the ring you want and call the manufacturer for recommendations.

I just got the same scope for my Rem 700 SPS Tact .308 and got the Burris XTR's on Med for it and I got 5/16 clearance with a cheap B-Square one piece base. The low ones would've been nice, but I wouldn't be able to attach the lens cover.
Now, if I could've fond the EGW 1-Piece 20 MOA Elevated Base I wanted, I definably would've got the low Burris XTR's.

BTW, What are you going to feed her? Mine does well with cheap Federal 150g SP (1.8" group at 200 yards!). I'm currently reloading w/ Hornady 165g SST's (since I plan on hunting from time to time w/ it). But trying to find the correct load has been extremely difficult, and now i got to start all over since my old scope gave up on me and I don't know what load was the last one I shot a working scope.

I have the EGW 20 MOA base with the scope. I have the Burris XTR Rings in Low and there is plenty of clearance.

give the A-MAXs a try, i use them for deer and they work well. btw, egw bases are gtg, great value.

I just got a 700SPS Tac 20" also and am looking at the same scope. Be sure to follow up on what rings you end up with and how you like them. Pics wouldn't hurt either.
