So did some looking around and I cant find anything on this. Just bought this rifle so its practically brand new. She loads just fine, fires great... After firing the rifle, I go to pull the bolt back to extract/eject the shell and the bolt sticks pretty bad. I have to jiggle the heck out of it and almost yank hard to get it to open. Sometimes it cycles just fine. Maybe its just the ammo? Maybe I need to lube it more? Break it in more?

Here's some eye candy..

try some fed gold medal match. Usually a sticky bolt is a sign from a hot load, high pressure. It has happened to me on handloads when working up but not factory. I have not shot surplus ammo.

I'll definitely try some different ammo. I put 50 rounds through it the first day, so i'm going to give it a good patch cleaning and a good lube tonight now that I have time. I just ran a bore snake through it with some CLP break free after at the range. Weather is supposed to be ok up here tomorrow so i'll take it back out and see!

My buddy had some of the CBC surplus stuff your shooting, bought it in a 100rnd box, needless to say after testing 25rnds he bought a different brand. If your gonna get serious, but dont want to reload, spend the extra dime on some Hornady SST superperformance for off the shelf or order some 175gr FGMM.

I reloaded for 175s in my SPS when I had it, and it would bughole at 100-200yd if I done my half...

Thanks! Yeah I will be reloading .308. I already reload .338 Lapua and 300 RUM, so I'm just waiting on my 308 dies. Thanks for the advice on bullets!
