I shoot 185 bergers and scenars out of my 300 wsm and load the bergers at 2.196 and the scenars at 2.155 I think (on the scenars, I am in the middle of moving so I cant check the scenars but I am sure on the VLDs). But that is to the Ogive length, the vlds being in the lands .003. With the vlds you can get them out a little longer because the ogive sits a lot further back than the scenars.

I'd agree with that on mine as well. Always seems like the velocities are always higher than expected with any load I have tried, though my barrel is pretty rough looking, and my MKII BTVS is like a file, but heck they shoot and shoot good so what do I care lol.

This guy uses a barrel nut on his Rem 700. Can have the best of both worlds I suppose and the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. It has actually made me consider doing this to my 700pss just to try it. Plus I know a guy that works in a machine shop to thread my barrels out.

I can't think of anything about the 700 action that I like. Seriously. FWIW, I own a Remington 700P, Sako 75, AI-AE.

The Remington bolt feels like rubbing your cheek on a snatch that hasn't been shaved in a week. It has a stupid bolt release and a marginal factory trigger.

So what is it that draws people to Remingtons, besides aftermarket support?

I'll give you $250.00 dollars for it. I would pay you full price for it but the bolt is rough, it has a stupid bolt release, and the trigger is marginal!
