Ok, I maybe freaking out over nothing here but the last 2 times I went and shot I had acouple 3rd shot flyers.
The first time me and my buddies wernt trying to shoot groups but I shot 1 3 shot group when we were leaving at 500. 1st and 2nd shots are alittle over an inch apart, 3rd shot is alittle high and 8 inches off to the right. I just figured I pulled it.
I just went and shot a 3 shot group at 200 before the sun went down. 1st and 2nd shots are less than an inch apart, 3rd shot is 1 inch high and 6 inches right. And I made sure I didnt pull it.
Could this be simply a parallax issue. I checked the scope after the last group and it was pretty close to 80 yards instead of 200.
Could it be the ammo? And if so why is it so consistent? I am shooting cheap PMC Bronze 147gr. (I buy it for the brass, practice with the ammo and then reload it)
I dont remember ever having this issue with my handloads?
I did shoot these groups in fairly fast succession. But would my barrel heat up that fast? (it is a heavy barrel)
My rifle is a remington 700 sps varmint, stock is and A4, EGW base, Burris rings, and super sniper 10x42m. I almost forgot to add, it is NOT bedded. But it used to be in a hs precision stock and it wasnt bedded and shot .5moa consistently. When I put the mcmillan on it it got groups down to .4moa and sometimes lower. I intended to get it bedded but shooting is expensive and if I can put 3 shots on a nickel at 100yds im happy.
Im really hoping this is a freak anomaly because the first rifle I bought was a savage and I couldnt ever get good groups out of it. I ended up selling it (and taking a huge loss) and dropping ALOT of money on this setup. I just really hate the feeling of spending thousands of dollars on something and it preforming like a 300 dollar hunting rifle.
