I'm getting the loads together to test 7 1/2 against the CCI450. It, by all accounts I've reviewed, they are the same hardness and thickness. The 7 1/2 may be just a little hotter but will soon see.Remington 7.5 is a good alternative but they are even more scarce.
I just did back to back testing with rem 7.5 and cci 450 in my 260 rem with small primer brass.I'm getting the loads together to test 7 1/2 against the CCI450. It, by all accounts I've reviewed, they are the same hardness and thickness. The 7 1/2 may be just a little hotter but will soon see.
Luckily, I fell into a closeout deal a while back. I got several thousand 7 1/2s for an unbelievable $5/1,000. I bought them to use in 221 Fireball and 17 Ackley Hornet. They aren’t non existent. You’re just going to have to pay for em. 41s and BR4s are ones you could look for. I wouldn’t call them equivalent but Federal 205Ms don’t suck. My 308 load works quite well with either.
Well after checking around for way more time than I want to admit, 450’s and 7.5 are gone everywhere. I backed out of a match this weekend so my 12yo could shoot but that was it, not a single primer left. I have some H4350 to trade if anyone has 450’s.
There’s plenty of CCI450s on gunbroker; most listings are $200+ per thousand.
And many of them have been bought specifically to resell from places like Midway within the last couple of months, at regular retail price.
Same as always during a panic.
Tula Small rifle mag primers. Just able to score 2000k for $60 locally from a guy getting out of reloading.
My velocities are about 10-20 FPS higher than the cci450s. Must have a harder cup though. Seating force necessary is greater on same lot of virgin brass.
Holy shit! You bought 2 million primers for $60?
