Rifle Scopes Reticle problem on Triji ACOG

Just noticed that the right hand leg (thicker portion) of the horizontal post on my ACOG is getting blurry and almose see through.

Left side and vertical post are absolutley fine and sharp.

Whne I move my head around (closer to eyepiece and from side to side) the post sharpens up again.

The scope hasn't had rough treatment or been dropped.

Any ideas what this might be?

Its all explained in the Trijicon manual. Its perfeckly normal. All the scopes has the blurry lines in the right side.

Thanks kaspermj...lost my manual a while back and never really noticed this before - partly because the rifle it is on doesn't get used too much these days.

Mine is the TA01NSN, but they are all pretty close,
mine is "washed out" a little on the right side, and I forget where I read it but its normal

My acog has the same issue, and so does my friends. Does the manual say why it does that? I read my manual cover to cover at one time and don't remember seeing anything in there about it.

Yes. The reticle pattern in the ACOG is formed by removing highly reflective metal from a prism mirror. This mirror is at about a 45-degree angle inside the gun sight. This means that the left side of the reticle is closer to the eye than the center of the reticle and the right side of the reticle is further from the eye. The result- the right side of the reticle is focused beyond infinity which can cause distortion on the right side of the reticle. The perceived distortion will be more or less depending on an individual's eyesight. The left side of the reticle is unaffected because the human eye has no difficulty focusing on a closer object. This in no way detracts from the performance of the scope. The image of the target area is not affected. Only the right hand side horizontal reticle line is blurry. This construction is required to achieve a parallax free vertical center of the scope, which allows the built in ranging on the reticle pattern.
