There is a guy locally that dips rifles stocks and/or barreled actions, scopes whatever to camo them. He can do it in mirageflage, urban, tiger stripe, anything. Have any of you guys had this done. I know they do synthetic stocks like that but complete guns. IF so does it hold up better than duracoat is it safe? It looks awesome!!

However, neither dipping or duracoat is even remotely close to as durable as Cerakote. </div></div>
I wonder if it was clear coated afterwards with Cerakote would it make it more durable.

I've wondered the same thing? Is the Hydro-dip surface going to promote good adhesion with Duracoat or Cerakote clear? I think most dip jobs are topped with an automotive clear coat (most likely acrylic urethane) with flattening agent.

Dipping just the stock and optic is my preference.
A flat clear coat after that to protect it is a must though.
Without it, the wear will be harsh.

I also prefer the Norrell Moly Resin over Ceracoat or Duracoat.

It is thin enough not to jack things up, is very durable, and is very easy to apply / touch up.
Oh yea, it is also very reasonably priced...

After having to compete in monsoon like conditions a couple years ago at ASC, I made the decision to cote the rifle.
Figured that if was going to do it, might as well have it look good.

Re: Rifle Dipping camo??

A buddy just brought me his glock he had dipped in skulls. He sent it off cause the local shop that used to dip here, has now shut down for a while (temperary untill he moves into a cheaper building). The shop did guns and was also dipping Yamaha snowmobile bodies which is why he had to shut down.....Seems like something is going on at Yamaha because they aint paying their bills and left him with a truck load of dipped sled bodies and unpaid invoices!

Sucks cause he had a nice shop going and did good work.

Back to my buddies Glock......I dont think its been clear coated. Time will tell.

Re: Rifle Dipping camo??

I had these guys dip an old BPS 10ga. for me a few years back. It is my bitch! and I do not take care of it at all. It gets drug through the water and muck going to the duck bling. It gets left on top of my varmint huntin high rack while I drive through anything and everything. Like I said it is my bitch and the camo has held up great considering what it's been through. Even in the few places that it has been scrated or chipped off you can't even tell because it blends into the camo. I'm really happy with the job and the company that did it.
