thanks to all here...you just saved me $1000. I was ready to purchase a leupold MK4...and since reading thru about 200 posts, have switched to a swfa ss 3-9x42. Mounting it on my rem. 700 xcr .308 ...
so I need to put a rail on, and get the right rings. This is my first new rifle setup. have usually had hand-me-downs and pawn shop deals. Ready for 1/2 moas.
ok, so if my rings are too high, I'm gonna have trouble getting good cheek weld. Already thinking about adjustable pads.
too low- my bolt is gonna hit the side of the scope?
or go with the group buy kit#6 with the Bobro low, slightly forward.
Mostly prone target shooting and some hunting. adding a harris 6-9 bipod.
It gets expensive to experiment with the wrong rings and bases.
any help for this newbie would be appreciated.
