Don't apologize. That does not work for him. You could start a thread on your 7-08 and loads. And don't worry, people will come along and crap on it and turn it into a feces-flinging festival. With all kinds of nasty language and ad hominems. How do I know this will happen?

Because it will be a day that ends in the letter 'y'. I have been in a number of forums over the years and I have not seen anything to match the vitriol one can find here.

But I think it is entertainment.

And sometimes, I learn something here. Either from a post or from a rabbit hole I dive into because of some concept here.

At risk of doxing myself, Old school pirate4x4 (before the irate divorce) wasn't for the faint of heart. But yeah things are pretty predictable around here these days.

Oh and I agree with bmx'r - don't buy a Ruger to upgrade. Just beat the crap outta the thing, leave it in the truck toolbox, and go kill stuff.

How has this thread not erupted into a Tikka v Ruger war yet?

I wonder what changes they would make. Looks extremely similar except for the detachable bolt knob. Maybe they improved the bolt lift, which is pretty much the only thing holding the original back.

I’ve got a gen 1 in 7.62x39 and gen 2 in .223. They are both fantastic rifles. The gen 2 is sub MOA at 100 yards with 62 and 77 grain .223 ammo. I’ve put some really sketchy ammo through the gen 1 (I purchased it when 7.63x39 was dirt cheap) and it just keeps on ticking. I will say the gen 2 is smoother to operate. I can’t compare the accuracy because the two cartridges are so different.

I wish they would have left them alone and just added the new caliber options. One of the things I liked about the Gen 1s is that indeed it does come with a cheap stock.....but it works well for a utilitarian beater rifle, and if I want something different I'll paint it or replace it. I don't need to be upsold another plastic version that somebody else molested already in an attempt to "upgrade" while also raising the price.

I hope the above reports of a worse feeling action are not indicative of all Gen 2s, because I could deal with the stock and fluting as long as the same function of a Gen 1 is there.

Having said that, I'm still interested in the 6ARC Ranch.

I was just looking and Ruger makes a 6 ARC but only in bolt action.

The one company I know of that regularly builds a 6 ARC to anyone's satisfaction is CMMG, if one were interested in an AR platform. Of course, other builders.

Wade Chandler at Texas Predator Hunting podcats (and Ally Munitions) has been using 6 ARC for hunting yotes. Either with dressed hogs or even with yote calls.

They have a truck with a platform and he designed a seat and shooting platform that bolts to that so that you be steady and yet elevated.

Weird that Ruger doesn’t ARC in their MPR. That’d seem like an awesome match.

Thinking I’ll give a Ranch .22 Arc a whirl around Black Friday. I’ll make it my “beat it up lease rifle and range toy”. At least that’s what I’m leaning toward this week…..

S&W is good. I almost got one of their AR-15s but I liked the specs better on the Windham Weaponry Dissipator M4 A3 that I did get. I like the WW BCG better. The molychrome 4150M barrel takes abuse. I also have the Windham Weaponry R13SFST-308 (AR-10) in 7.62X51 mm NATO and changed the telescoping carbine stock to a rifle tube and a Magpul PRS Gen III adjustable stock.

But I have seen positive reviews of the S&W semi-autos.

I recently picked up their sport 3, put a geissele trigger in it and a mk4 hd 2-10. It’s very accurate. I’ll get their 6arc if I ever go AR with it.

My Gen 2 Ruger 20” 6 arc is also very accurate with 95 smk and varget

Picked up a 16” 300BO, cleaned it and put 6 rounds of sig subsonic through it to get it on paper.
Using a leupold mark 4hd 1-4.5, which is hard to group with at 100…

Did 2 loads with n120 and 2 loads with cfe blk.
N120 is slightly more quiet but 12.7gr of cfe with 190 sub x shot very well. With a SD of 12, I’ll take it.
I pulled the 2nd shot, had a fly land on me as I was about to shoot and caused me to jerk lol,

The 4 shot group measures 3/8”
