Would you get them again? Look kind of big and awkward and the numbers look smaller than the regular DT. Would like opinions from people that own them. Looking at another S&B and haven't seen the MTC in person.

Re: S&B MTC turret owners. Do you like them?

Rad, Ive used both the standard double turn knobs and the MTC knobs. I personaly like the standard knobs better just because they are more ledgeable and color coded.

On the other hand, I do like how the MTC has a heavy click per Mil better than a standard click which you will get with standard knobs. Ive never compared the two in size, but I dont think the MTC is much bigger.

And thanks Graham, You're alright too...

Re: S&B MTC turret owners. Do you like them?

Graham that's funny as hell. I had to read both of the statements 2or3 times before I figured it out. I appreciate your opinion on both:). Grammar was ever my thing.

Re: S&B MTC turret owners. Do you like them?

They are easy to disable on the elevation turret if you don't like them.
Then it's just like a normal DT. They are not any bigger than a DT.
They vary in how hard they "clunk" from turret to turret and scope to scope, my elevation turret was very hard and windage turret was perfect.
I have normal DT's now, but will add locking windage knobs when they become available.

Re: S&B MTC turret owners. Do you like them?

Personally I don't care too much for the MTC turrets on my S&B 3-12x. Its the only thing I don't like about the scope. I find that each time I go past a full mil, I end up blowing by the first 2-3 clicks past the mil mark and I end up having to dial back.

I hope that makes sense, you kinda have to play with one in order to get a feel for what I'm saying. Try before you buy.

This is my experience with the two 3-12's that I own as well. When I turn elevation from zero it skips the first 2/10 mils. No matter what I try it just accelerates through the first couple clicks and usually dumps me out on 2-3/10 mils.

Re: S&B MTC turret owners. Do you like them?

I have had both the standard turrets(yellow window) and the MTC turrets in the S&B 5-25. I really love the MTC turrets the heavy clicks are great. They do take some getting use to, but after that you're dialing it in very quickly. They were designed with the military and low to no light situations in mind.

While you asked for <span style="font-style: italic">opinions from owners</span> and I don't own any MTC-equipped PMIIs', I have played with MTC-equipped PMII 5-25Xs' enough to offer pretty good insight from the standpoint of a shooter who owns and uses two PMII 5-25Xs' with the standard DT 0.1 MIL turrets. Something else to keep in mind is that the "standard" (non-MTC) "window" DT Turrets and the (windowless) MTC Turrets each have their own characteristics which individual shooters may like or dislike. Therefore, even the opinions of <span style="font-style: italic">owners</span> is subjective due to individual preference(s).

Also, <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">regardless of who the manufacturer is, scopes usually exhibit some variation between them. This is true even when comparing two identically-configured scopes of the same model within the same manufacturer.</span></span> That said:

(a) I like the my standard DT turrets a lot - the large, color-coded numbers are easy-to-read in low light even with my 47 year-old eyes. I can see my Elevation setting while on the rifle. The clicks are extremely sharp and definite without the slightest hint of "mush" and the adjustments repeat without fail. However, the standard DT Turrets require you to either look at the dial every time you make an adjustment over a MIL, or slowly turn the Elevation Turret, counting each click. The latter is slow going, so sometimes I wish that I had MTC Turrets so I could quickly crank the Elevation turret to the major MIL setting, then dial the tenths (1/10ths') in slowly. Thats' what I did when I had a Premier (Heritage) 5-25X MTC DT 0.1 MIL scope, or do when using an MTC scope equipped rifle.

If I'd thought about it I may have opted for CCW MTC turrets when I sent my first PMII 5-25X CW scope to S & B for CCW turret conversion, but I didn't. And since I wanted to keep my turrets the same on my two PMII 5-25Xs', when I had my second PMII 5-25X CW scope converted to CCW I went with standard DT turrets again. Now that I've had two PMII 5-25X 0.1 MIL CW Gen 2 XRs' converted to CCW and have a ton of money in them I'm not going to send them back again (risking loss/theft and investing another $1,000.00+) to have them both converted to MTC Turrets for "no look" convenience. Not for a "one-way range" gun.

(b) The MTC Turrets really aren't bigger than the standard DT turrets - the MTC Elevation turret appears a bit taller because it is smaller in diameter than the standard DT Elevation turret. However, the numbers are a lot smaller than the numbers on the standard DT Elevation turret. Compared to the (larger) numbers on the standard DT turret, the (smaller) numbers on the MTC turret are harder to read quickly and accurately in low light.

(c) The MTC turrets that I've had the pleasure of playing with seem a bit tight when new <span style="font-style: italic">(isn't everything)?</span> This was also my experience with the MTC-equipped PMIIs' at SHOT 2011. This, coupled with shooters who typically aren't used to using MTC turrets is - IMHO - one of the reasons some people complain about spinning past their intended adjustment by a click or two. I have a friend who has a PMII 5-25X MTC and used to spin past the first tenth every time but once he got used to the MTC he stopped "over-dialing" his adjustments. I believe that as the scope is "broken-in" and/or as the shooter becomes accustomed to the MTC turrets the "over-dial problem" should go away. That is <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Jeeprider</span></span>'s experience as he posted in this thread.

Re: S&B MTC turret owners. Do you like them?

I own a 5x25 CCW with MTC, I really like it alot. I prefer tha MTC over the standard. I actually have another MTC version on order at this time.

I do not feel that either version is perfect.

To me the USO EREK knob is the best made. I also really like the single turn knob that S&B makes.

All in all though the S&B 5x25 IMO does not even have competition. It is the BEST optic you can buy. I have played with all the others. Optical clarity is second to none. I have never had a issue at all. That is not the case with other high end scopes I have owned
