Ask
I was looking to buy a modular die. Sac is closed on the weekends so I’ll ask this here.
Is the decapping expanding mandrel included with the modular die? I’m assuming not because there is nowhere to input the size you want based off sac calculator.
Also do I really need the sac wrench or can rubber coated vise grips work?

Accurate information above.

Depending on preferences you can buy an expander mandrel or the de-capping expander mandrel. I bought a mandrel only since I de-cap with a universal de-cap die.

The die is excellent. Makes very strait ammo, and mine is spot on for head space/shoulder bump with no need for the included shims.

I also use their seating die, easy to use and very consistent.

Can’t argue with the results so far:

130gr Hornady ELD-M, and once fired Lapua brass (large rifle primer), CCI-BR primer, Reloder 16 powder. Only one load gave an SD over 10 FPS (43.5gr), everything else was single digits. The top load clocked 3009 FPS out of the 24” Bartlein on my AT-X.

The groups could probably be better but I’m not holding up my end of the bargain. Smallest group was .400” largest was .585”. I’m just not currently capable of higher consistency in technique on my end of things.

Confirming what I’ll need:
Sold together:
*Modular sizing die 6.5creedmoor
*neck/ shoulder bushing (.287” based off loaded round)

Sold separately:
*wrench
*decapping expander mandrel .2625” (i’d like it all in one step)
* collet ER11- 7mm size medium

Also are the decapping pins standard size pins like the rcbs ones or are they proprietary?

The de-capping and neck expansion mandrel are one piece.

If you bend it or break it, that’s $90 flushed down the toilet. Hence my use of a Dillon universal de-capping die. Bonus since I wet tumble my primer pockets get cleaned too since I clean brass after decapping.

As far as a wrench goes depending on your press you might not need anything more than a crescent wrench you probably already own. If you’re dealing with a turret press or progressive press and space is tight on the tool head then by all means get the SAC die wrench.

That’s why I just run the expander mandrel. The Dillon de-capping die is cheap, replacing pins is easy, and the rod is spring loaded so if you do get a misalignment you’ll feel it before you destroy the de-capping pin.

Just run your brass through it all real quick in a batch and toss it in the wet tumbler, or ultrasonic either of those methods you don’t worry too much about tumbler media sticking in the primer pockets.
