Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington - NOW TAKING DEPOSITS

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

Question, why not in 6.5x55? Anyway, sounds pretty good, any more info on this? I have a 308 and was thinking of picking up a 300 Win because I'm to lazy to reload, but I have always liked the 6.5 cal.

Bob,

Beretta won't even sell you a factory replacement barrel. I think the chances are really slim. Just get a medium palma contour from any of the major barrel makers. I believe that is approximately the taper.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

Any thoughts on the factory base? After looking at the TRG picture thread I'm convinced that the Spuhr direct mount is the way to go. I say no rail...

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

This is going to happen, wheels are just turning slowly. Will be 260 only, not enough demand for the 6.5x55, and also the mentioned magazine constraints.

For those interested, please email or PM your name/email/phone to myself or jb1000br and we will add you to the list.

Thanks.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

We finally have some resolution on this project. The price is a little more than expected as they include a rail in the price now.

We are now taking deposits for the 260 TRG rifles. The final specs are basically the same as a TRG22 in 308:

-Green or Black stock
-1:8 twist 26" barrel threaded 18x1 with cap
-all barrels from same production lot
-Phosphated metal
-Engraved with Euro Optic's Logo and serialized "EUROOPTIC001, EUROOPTIC002" (up to 200)
-cost is $3000 and that includes a Sako 20MOA picatinny rail (buyer can swap included rail for 3-ring mount for additional $200)

$500 deposit required to hold your spot, first come first serve, this is a 1-time run of these rifles.

Delivery of the first batch is slated for January.

We have emailed everyone who was on our list, if you would like to reserve one, please call or email for fastest response.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

I phoned yesterday and put a deposit down for 1 for myself and a buddy; I'm looking foreward to this.

Is there any way for you to find out what freebore Sako will have on these chambers just so I can get an idea if I will get close to the lands and still be "mag-length" with some different bullet options?

Thanks
A.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

Hmmmm I'm interesting in this one. But if we are going to a 26" barrel I would have it cut down to 22 and threaded for a suppressor. These are excellent rifles though, hard to pass this up.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

It is 26" as you can always make it shorter, but it is sure hard to add length once shortened

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interest

Man, not much I wouldn't give to be in on this buy. This is almost exactly what I wanted my next rifle to be. I could kick the deposit out now, but don't know if I could float the other 2.5k by jan/feb. You guys enjot the rifles and let me know how they shoot.

on second thought, i want in on this one, ill make it happen. and 26" sounds fine to me.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interest

So it's for sure a 26" bbl now? After some recent trials and tribulations trying to get my TRG rebarreled I'm interested in buying a complete rifle that I don't have to mess with but at the same time I'm not even willing to buy something that needs to be cut 2" and rethreaded because if I go this route I want to order it and be done. I was told I would have a 6.5mm barrel for my brand new TRG by the end of July in June and it's now November and no word. I tried calling him a few days ago and got a voice mail and he won't even return my phone call any more. Just glad I didn't leave my rifle with the guy while I've been waiting this whole time. When I first started following this thread it seemed it was going to be a 24" bbl as that's what he majority wanted but if the idea is to go 26" w/the majority having to cut them down then I'm not interested given my current situation waiting for work.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interest

How are the numbers ordered looking? are you getting near the number needed to make this happen? Are you going to be getting them all at once and then sending them out or are they going to trickle in? Want one very bad but cant commit right now. When is absolute last day to get one?

That would be nice. I have a hunting trip scheduled for early March and would love to try the TRG out in the field. A January delivery would leave me some time to set up the optics and do some load development.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

With Lapua's announcement that they will be making 260 brass, the entire discussion between the 260, 260 Creedmoor, and 6.5x47 just took a new turn. Now that Lapua brass is available, loads at the top end (as in the 6.5x47) will give the 260 much more versatility and potential. I'm not recommending going over max recommended loads, I'm suggesting that loads on the top end will now be much more reasonable to use with stronger brass, poor brass will no longer be the weak link in the 260 supply chain.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

Just putting my $.02 in. It's frustrating waiting. Any feedback from Sako as to when would be appreciated. Like what stage are the rifles at now? (I have one coming, supposedly).

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

I'm also very curious as well! The waiting isn't too bad until you have a scope, ammo and reloading components all ready to go :)

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

If it's not too late see if you can get Sako to put 20moa base on these (that is if they are coming with a picatinny rail). 20 moa has pretty much become a standard.

Actually, I think you'd be best off selling them without a base at all and let us put on what we want. Everyone has their own ideas. Me, I want a 20 moa base.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

I ordered my 260 without the base and have a Near 25 MOA base headed my way. Can someone recomend where to get Harris Bypod adapter for TRGs? I can't tell who made the one on my 308 but need another for the new rifle.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

Speaking of bi-pods, I am debating between the Sako piece (which I think is rediculously over priced) or an Accu-Shot Atlas. Alex at Euro optics is suggesting the Sako bi-pod and says it has better balance.

Anyone have any input on how well the Accu-Shot works on a TRG? At half the price, it seems like it might be a good alternative.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington...Anyone Interested?

After buying my TRG22, I choked at the price for the Sako Bi-pod. I bought the $275 scope base, but it was too high as it was apparently for mounting large military optics on. I sent the base back. I ended up with a Harris bi-pod, and a Warne 20moa base. Both aftermarked parts work perfectly.

For those considering the TRG22, I have had plenty of various high end 308's. The TRG just seems easier to shoot well. I guess it's ergonomics are more in sync with the way I'm built...but everyone else who has shot it seems to think the same thing. It doesn't take any getting used to, it is just an easy rifle to shoot well.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington - NOW TAKING DEPOSITS

I'm still holding onto hope for Christmas in March. I already have my scope, rings, ammo and reloading dies+components. There's no doubt they will well worth the wait though, so its all good.

Re: Sako TRG 22 in 260 Remington - NOW TAKING DEPOSITS

I spoke to Jason at Euro Optics earlier today. He said they have not had any new updates from Barretta and does not know if the rifles will be delivered this month or not. He said they would put a call into Barretta and get back to me if they get any new information.

I have to say, this is getting a bit frustrating.

Lakeway, when Jason gets back to you with status if you would please share much appreciated. There are a lot of hide members in on this buy that would like to know.
