Elementary questions: After watching the "mad minute" drills the Danes and Swedes and et al perform with these rifles I am curius as to the design of the action.
    Medium length action?
    Degree of bolt lift?
    Bolt camming (ease of lift)?
Seems as though the bolt manipulation is effortless and do we have anything here that is even close?
You can find the vid at Accurate shooter/6BR.com

    Re: Sauer 200 STR

Its the same action you can get here in the USA in the SSG 3000. Its a 3 lug action small ejection port quick change barrel set up. They are very nice and smooth, right on par with the TRG and AI actions. Im not sold on the bedding of the SSG 3000 b/c the rear action screw goes through the pistol grop of the stock. Im sure its fine but limates your stock options however the Mcmillan that they come in are about as nice as any you can get. I wish you could get the STR rifles in the states!

    Thanks JBell,
Did'nt know the STR's were'nt available, bummer, but thanks on the SSG description. I am a little intrigued by the action though I have to admit I've run nothing but our US made actions; Remmy, Winnie, and Savage... Need to expand my horizons

    Re: Sauer 200 STR

I would say you should expand your horizons. I too owned many Remington and Remington style action over the years but as of the last 4 or 5 years I have been shooting my TRG and just picked up an AIAW and will never go back to the 2 lug 90 degree actions.

    Re: Sauer 200 STR

COST is the limiting factor! I'm trying to find a way to "requisition" an AI AE, but I can't sell my vehicle just yet...

    Re: Sauer 200 STR

Cost seems to be on par with the TRG and the AE. Is durability a question and what about parts availabilty? Next to non-existent?

    Re: Sauer 200 STR

The STR as mentioned is essentially the same as the SSG 3000, the difference is only the laminate stock, and no muzzle break.

Well here where you can buy them, cost is about the same as i would have to pay for a new Rem 700 Sendero SF 2, or T3 tac.
A TRG almost 50% more, and a AE you could add 20-30% on that again.
So over here the STR is a real bargain for a precision rifle, and the accuracy is impossible to beat for the money.

Part availability is great really since it's basicaly the only rifle used in the DFS., can buy every part in it from storage so just means a little week of wait.

Missing a good optic mounting solution, but pic rail but can be had from USO or get a Sphur mount.

    Re: Sauer 200 STR

I have a Sauer 200str here in USA. It has 22lr and 308 barrels. 22 barrel has about 1000rds through it. 308 barrel has only a few sighting rounds. Like new condition. I will be looking to sell it in next 6 mos or so if anyone is looking for one.
    Cheers,
    Andrew
