I am having a really bad day, I went to the range with me .22LR to get some practice in and every darn 3rd round or so I had ejection issues. I would chamber a round just fine, then shoot and lift the bolt handle up and back like any normal human would do. I would then try to chamber another round. Well there is still a empty case in the chamber. I would then have to drop the mag and fix the round that tried to go in but was stopped by the round in the chamber. After taking the mag out I would cycle the bolt a couple times and sometimes it would eject and sometimes it would not.

I am shooting wolf target ammo. I even super cleaned the boltface and ejectors and thought I did a good job, I guess something is wrong.

Any advice on what I can do to brighten up my next range day?? Thanks guys

My Salvage MKII that I bought used has the same issues, but not quite as frequently. It only happens when I really baby the bolt lift though. I just cured my issue by working the bolt with a little authority.

The rifle shoots so damn accurately though that can't complain too much.

if it's really cold where you are at, might be the cold gelling up the oil and gunk in the extraction arm grooves. though i don't know if you had problems in warm weather.

i've had that problem before, though i know my extraction problems as of late is definately a bad lot of ammo, the rims are not thick enough to get "picked up" by the extractor.

there are others that had some sort of extraction problems with the mkii, but i would address the easiest thing first, the cold weather if you are having it.

if that doesn't work, (i hate to refer to other forums but it's to help out a fellow "hider") rimfire central has a bunch of causes / cures. go to the savage section, do a "search this forum" for

failure to extract
fte
extractor
extraction

Have the same issue. Working the bolt with a little more rigor usually solves the problem like diggler1833 said, but not always.

Its just too accurate for me to really get too bothered by it.

Re: **Savage MKII BTVS ejecting issues!!! HELP....**

i had a similar problem with wolf match, except it would never extract spent cases. the problem was the extractor didn't have enough spring pressure to keep its grip around the rim. the solution is to tighten up that clip that holds the extractors and striker in place.
Just pull it off and squeeze the ends together, i mean get that sucker really tight. when you reassemble the bolt, at first leave the extractors out and slip the clip in its groove over the striker. then one at a time slide the extractors down their slots under the clip into their position. this keeps the clip tight. just remember the sharp extractor goes on the ejection port side and the notches on the clip face the rear.

Re: **Savage MKII BTVS ejecting issues!!! HELP....**

My MKII FV has that problem some times. Seems some lube gets stuck in the chamber and builds up. I mainly have a problem with a live round getting stuck in the chamber. Clean the chamber and its good to go for another 500 rounds.

Also Did what McWood suggested and in the last 2k rounds i havent had any issues.

Mine was ejecting terrible also last match, found out spring clip that holds everything in was backwards, notch goes towards rear according to Savage breakdown. Mine barely had any tooth to grab empty, now plenty. Blued sharp tooth is ejector, silver is supposed to be dull & it's a guide.

Savage mkii is known for ejection issues.. best bet is disassemble the extractor and keep it nice and clean and free of grit, and lightly lubricated.. I’m pretty sure that’s the cause for the majority of Savage extraction issues.

This may sound silly but make sure the extractor and the shell holder are on the correct side of the bolt. Shell holder on inside/ extractor on outside if I remember

You dont need to ask me how I know this issue

Also had this issue with my Mk2-FVSR...in the middle of an NRL 22 match lol. It was quite annoying.

First thing that helped was cleaning and I stopped using CCI SV ammo... not saying it will always cause a problem, but seemed to in mine.

Second is I called savage tech support, told them I had extraction issues and for free, they sent me a spare extractor and C-clip. I put the extra C Clip on top of the first. SO two c clips. It fits snug and fine, and does not catch. I've got about 200 or so more rounds through it with zero extraction issue. Thats what I recommend. I also have a spare extractor and c clip in case anything breaks or does work again.

Anyone realize this thread was done 10 years ago until some guy posted yesterday?

I mean, I did. Figured everyone is always complaining about people not using the search function, figured I'd give my updated input lol.

Plus, I found most of my info about my Mk2 fixes from threads like these, a 10 year update is always nice haha.

I was just searching after a match on my phone right when I had problems. Then I posted what was wrong with mine after I got home. maybe someone else searching for same problem would find this useful. must have installed spring clip backwards at factory.
