My SBR kit is almost done. I started with a Colt SBR lower with a Timney trigger. I slid on a B5 Sopmod stock and attached a SAPR from Battleline Industries. For the upper I went with the MRP from LMT. This gave me a great platform for the EXPS-3 from EoTech with a 3X from Aimpoint with my Troy Battlesights for irons. Out front I matched a Larue short grip with an Inforce light from Inova.

Now I can change my calibers and barrels in a few moments, mere seconds if I am very quick. I started with a 10.5” barrel in 5.56 from LMT, I also have a .22lr conversion kit for this barrel. I then went with a 300AAC Blackout barrel from Noveske converted to the MRP system so I only have to change the barrel to get a 30 caliber round. I then had my 5” 9mm 3-lug barrel from TROS converted to the MRP, this lets my run my Trinity suppressor from Gemtech when I slip in the conversion block.

I am still waiting on my Phantom 7.62 Titanium suppressor from YHM to run on both my 5.56 and 300AAC blackout. I have the entire kit wrapped up in a Remington MCS case so each barrel and part has its own compartment and place.

I was very happy with the way it shoots but now that I have added the SAPR from Battleline it shoots like a dream. The whole thing runs and runs for as long as I can afford the ammo.

How did you get the multiple calibers on your Form 1?

I submitted mine via Form 4 originally (dealer said it was fine), and it got rejected for multiple reasons.

1 - it wasn't on a Form 1
2 - I listed multi-caliber to include 5.56 and 6.8, since I want multiple uppers.

They specifically said I can't have a weapon with multiple calibers ;(

What little I know of NFA is if you are doing your own lower and turning it into an SBR its Form 1, if you are getting a factory SBR transfered from your Class3 dealer you do it on a Form 4.

As to caliber, mine is 5.56 which is what is on my lower. To change uppers you can have any number of caliber uppers as long as you maintain your original setup. So as long as I have a 5.56 upper I can have a 6.8 or 300 BLK and be gravy, once I get rid of my 5.56 upper I would have to notify the NFA in writing of the permanent change.

That is a pretty sexy set up to the OP! I've toyed with the idea of 9mm SBR, how do you like yours? What lower components are you running for the conversion?

I only listed the Caliber that is stamped on the lower (on my colt it is 5.56). The BATF&E says you can put any caliber or upper on your lower as long as it is not a permanent change. You can modify any upper including installing a barrel over 16.1” and still maintain the SBR status as long as you maintain the ability to have the original SBR listing on your tax stamp. This lets you keep several different barrels or uppers for you SBR lower. In my case I left the length of the barrel and the overall length of the gun with N/A. They still approved my Form-4 although some people say you cannot leave any space blank, I did not I filled it in with N/A. This is the same principal as not obtaining the items to make a title 2 item until you have approval to do so. I was told I could leave the length blank due to the fact I did not own a short barrel yet and I did not know how long it would be.

The AFT will let you change any barrel length and caliber as long as it does not permanently modify the NFA part or in this case the lower. This is the same clause that lets you shoot multiple calibers out of the same suppressor. You can shoot any caliber out of the suppressor that the manufacture will let you without any worry from the BATF&E guys.

I love my 9mm but the 300AAC Blackout is catching up fast if the ammo was cheaper. LMT said I could not make a short 9mm barrle it had to be over 10" to make it work. Well I proved them wrong and it works great! The lower is a Colt with a Timney trigger so I can run both the 9mm and the 5.56 bolt with not change and no problems. I run a stock buffer with a slightly worn spring that funcions great. I can run my 300 Blackout with the same set up. My gun will even run un-supressed with the Noveske barrel and 207gr or 220gr subsonic ammo.

Re: SBR kit from my MRP upper in 5.56, 9mm, and 300AAC

Thanks for that clarification. It's a sexy setup.

My Form 1 just went out this week, so I'll have to look into 6.8 or 300blk once it gets approved.

My form 1 is for a 10.5" bbl. you can't go shorter than that if that's what is on the form, correct? Or is it the same basic interpretation re: maintaining the original setup?

I would assusme so but I am not sure. I filled in mine as N/A on both length and overall length. I was told this was Okay and correct due to that fact it is a lower and not attached to any barrel. On a form 1 you can not have the barrel so you do not know how long it will be.
