Just wandering how current and ex owners feel/felt
about them. Would absolutely love to have one for
myself. But, then again theres a lot things Ive found
that I'd love to have for myself .....especially so, since
joining the Hide lol......

Re: SCAR 17S

I had one. It was reliable and reasonably accurate with good ammo, 1-2 moa. Trigger sucked but it is a battle rifle so I wasn't expecting much better. At the time I had it mags were very hard to get and ran around $100 each when they could be found. I decided to stick with AR pattern semi-autos so I sold it.

I now own a Colt LE901. Great rifle, reliable, well made and accurate. I'm getting consistent sub moa groups if I do my part. It will take Magpul LR-20 mags available for around $20 each.

Re: SCAR 17S

I feel like calling it a "battle rifle" is a poor excuse to justify poor accuracy. The M14, G3, and M16 all started life as "battle rifles" yet the aftermarket has made it possible to turn these rifles into sub-moa guns. If the Mk17 becomes a mainstay among our military I think we will see more aftermarket parts/barrels that will really improve the weapon. Just look how far the AR has come. I do see your point in that 1-2moa is great for a battle rifle, but I think the SCAR is capable of more with a few upgrades.

Re: SCAR 17S

I have a good friend who loves his. His is sub moa gun with good ammo. His likes the Black Hills 175 SMKs. It's been 100% reliable and he is notoriously hard on stuff. He hunts and uses it for 3-gun heavy and it just works. Terrible factory trigger and hard to find mags are the downfall. The Gieselle trigger was a great upgrade for that gun and mags are coming available. Watch the charging handle, it bites.

Overall it's a great gun.
