I would try out a SCAR before buying one. To me the seem big and awkward compared to an AR. I have an LWRC with 14.5 barrel and pinned BAC brake. Shoots very nice and has been 100% reliable so far.

I agree. Try the SCAR first. It has a weird secondary recoil. The BCG is so heavy it produces a forward lunging recoil after the initial from it slamming backward.

I know some will flame me but I don't care. After shooting both quite a bit; I went with the SPR. I have no gripes at all. Handles well, shoots well and is reliable 100%.

I have both the SCAR and the LWRC SPR. I do not like the ergonomics on the SCAR and the SPR is more accurate than the SCAR

I own a LWRC M6 IC and have shot a buddy's SCAR 16. Hands down LWRC all the way.

I owned an M6IC and traded it for a Scar 16 this past week. The IC was nice, accurate right out of the box, factory trigger is one of the better ones out there but still upgraded to a Geiselle. My main complaint with the IC was the weight. Gun was VERY nose heavy. The only way to correct that would have been to replaced the factory stock with something aftermarket like the Sopmod B5. Which means the only way to try and balance out the gun would be to add weight which would have put it close to 8lbs. The Scar is a far more balanced rifle. Your not going to go wrong either but for me the Scar is where it's at! I should also add that I already own another Scar 16 so my opinion is not based on 1 week of owning a Scar.

Hahahaha! Get the LWRC SPR, it's a well made rifle, accurate and reliable. If anything, get the SPR so we can watch Cobra cutter peepee in his pants!

Lets see, I lived about 20 minutes from LWRC when they started up. I went to college 30 minutes away from where are. I used to shoot and compete with one of the production managers (no idea if he still works there). One of my father's business partners owns(or owned) a part of the company. If anything, I have much more insignt into this shitty little sham of a company than you do.

The 16 and 17 are both good rifles. If you are going to stick with 5.56, there are better options than both. The 16 is not a bad gun, it just doesn't bring enough of a change over the m4 to be worth it.

I was not impressed with the 16.... possibly the 17 but the 16 was far from any improvement over an AR.

My Quick comments:
Scar pros: better balanced and lighter (esp front end), more reliable (for me), softer (but different) recoil. Accuracy is equal to LWRC (for me).
SCAR 16s cons: ergonomics, stock (I placed a vltor adapter and run the same stock on my SCAR and LWRC. Weird recoil (for some), reciprocating charging handle.
LWRC IC pros: AR ergonomics + ambi bolt release, thin, rounder hand guard feels good in the hand.
LWRC cons: front heavy (this is indisputable-- check the balance point in both and you'll see. And I have the FLUTED barrel.

For anyone comparing the two rifles I would agree with most of this. I know many people are excited about the my new lower of the IC architecture however it's not all roses. There are issues with the bolt catch and the Gen 3 Pmags and neither company wants to address the issue. As mentioned above and in the video I posted even with a fluted barrel the LWRC rifle are not well balanced.

Apparently it's very good with a suppressor/sbr because the suppressor does not dirty up as much(can someone correct me if I'm wrong) and the barrel doesn't over heat with the suppressor(a lot of members have done tests between piston AR-15 makers vs the scar).

I'd recommend a scar-17s over the scar-16s, unless you want the 5.56. The weight is a bit heavier, but still great (8.4~ pounds loaded) and longer range. Recoil is as little as a 5.56.

I don't know if there are piston AR-15 custom shops, but I would look into them. I don't know much about the LWRC either, but some info on the SCAR-16s.

Running a M4-2000 on a16 there is of course a significant difference in fouling between suppressed and unsuppressed. Suppressed, most of the fouling is coming from the breech due to the excess backpressure. I think you'll see similar fouling regardless of the platform assuming similar operating systems (short stroke piston).

For comparing the SCAR to DI guns, obviously a DI gun would be even worse. If I had to guess I would say that at least 75% of the fouling in the action could be attributed to the breech vs the gas tube in a suppressed DI gun. There is some junk in the receiver and on the magazines, but that's from the breech. None of it gets in my face, when I pull the trigger. When I fire my AR's suppressed everything comes back through the bolt carrier and into my face, through the charging handle. I put PRI Gas Busters on them and that helps some but you still get gassed. The SCAR is a perfect platform for a suppressor, it was designed for them...

I prefer my SCAR 16 overall. It's lighter, points faster, and it is softer shooting. But it's a close call. I still like my LWRC IC a lot and have had good results with it and my other LWRC guns (I have 2 REPRs: 16 and 20in). On a side note, I like my REPR 16in over my SCAR 17, even though it's heavier. It just shoots better than the SCAR. Also, my SCAR 17 has had a few FTE FTF over its lifetime, my LWRCs however have never had a malfunction of any kind.

Thanks for all the input, think I will wait for the ARX100 and try something new. They are ugly, but kind of like the way it felt when I handled one at shot and the easy takedown. Don't expect it to replace my other carbines though!
