We might have something of interest coming soon.

100% the Strike Eagle is better suited for PRS type shoots, if you have the spare coin then I'd upgrade.

If you have a local match that you plan to attend as a taster into the sport and don't expect do well, then just use what you already have. Chances are you have a lot to learn anyway so the scope might not hold you back as much.

You have a classic nice scope, and yes, optics have improved, but Leupold Mark 4 has never been a bad scope. The only downside is that the lower magnification is rather high. I would try it and see how it works, and what magnifications you need in PRS. I would also see what other shooters are using, and then think about your budget.

Strike Eagle is a balancing brand for Vortex. It is good enough, generally, while still being a budget scope. There is a big jump in quality from Strike Eagle to PST Gen II and then to Razor Gen II/II HD-E. For most low power (up to 8x) and the mid-range (up to 15x-ish), the Strike Eagle performs well. When you jump to 25x, you are asking a lot for a budget scope. Not that Strike Eagle will not handle it, but I bet you see a better image with an Arken at 1/2 the price. If you are good with 6 to 10x max, you might even try the Sig MSR series, which packs a lot of scope with a mount into a budget price, and good BDC reticle.

I would just encourage you to take it slow. Most of our PRS shooters are spending more, but are getting mid-range 15x, 18x or 20x maximum, but that is also preference.

The Leupold is SFP I believe and with that it will hinder you in matches but not keep you out of trying a match. FFP is very important in the sport. Also having a better reticle will help. The power range is no problem as going below 8x is very rarely done in matches. A new scope would help you out in matches but go shoot a match and look at scopes and see what you like.

What is your price range?

If you're familiar with the scope you have and budget is an issue, just shoot a match or two using what you already have.

You may not like shooting matches, you will have a better idea of what you want after, and people will let you peek through their scopes making you spend much more $$

Focus more on the experience and less on the gear for now until you know what you need having done it.

I can sell the Leupold Mark 4 which is in SFP for the same price as Vortex Strike Eagle FFP cost here.
