What do you guys think about these scopes, going on a 308 700 to do some Long Distant varmint/target shooting.

Weaver Kaspa Tactical Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 3-12x 44mm Side Focus

Hawke Varmint Side Focus 3-12x44

Thanks

Re: Scope review, what do you guys think of these?

No offense but I think if you can afford .308 ammo you can and should spend more than that on a scope. Weaver's higher end models are great values, the "Kaspa" series seems to be stillborn as just too cheap. Hadn't heard of that Hawke before but when I look it up I see airgun forums.

The cheapest scope I'd put on a .308 rifle would be the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 mildot, next up the SWFA SS fixed power scopes ($300 in 6x, 10x, 12x, 16x, or 20x - I would choose 10x or 12x). Those will be reasonably good, fairly durable (moreso for the SS) scopes. For an equal quality zoom scope you can about double those prices (so $400-600) and find some pretty decent scopes in that range.

I would look into the SWFA Super Sniper scopes. I have used them in the past and have been very impressed with them for the price.

Save your money and go a few hundred more You will get far more for your buck. Spend more to get more and you will be much happier.

Re: Scope review, what do you guys think of these?

I've got a Hawke Varmint Side Focus 6-24x44 and I can't recommend it. Do yourself a favor, for a bit more you can get a much better scope. Cabelas has a great deal on Nikons right now Nikons at Cabella's.

If you can't add any cash, the Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12x40 is a good scope for about the same money as the Hawke. I had one on my AR before I switched to Nikon.

Re: Scope review, what do you guys think of these?

I have the 3-12x Kaspa and it's fine on a 22. It's made in China and the turret although repeatable and does return to zero is typical China-mushy. Don't know that i'd trust it on a centerfire at all, and wouldn't put it on one due to that uncertainty.

I've heard good things about the Bushnell Tactical Elite 5x15. It's not mil/mil unfortunately but you can find for about $400 and they're great.
