In olden times it was common to set a 200 yard zero by knowing trajectory/ mv .
Ie a 270 win set 1.3 high at 100 is zero on 200.
1.3 is 100 yard zero.
Not worth a shit for long distance but killed a lot of critters from 50-300 yards.
It's fudd deer gun 101 and still works to that end.
I do it on 50 yd for preliminary zero and load testing all the time and set turret to the 50 yard mark say 4 clics up on 6.5g mostly dependant on scope height.
When I get ammo and scope dialed in to my liking on the ten minute drive I make the 30 minute drive to 100 + yds and normally within 1 click.
Sometimes the calculator is off normaly due to operator error.
Edit: Three dollar a gallon gasoline prompted this tactical maneuver.
