I am looking at bedding my 1022 receiver a little better, If i took a screw through the rear of the receiver into the stock would that work or hurt the rifle any, I know it would secure the receiver a little better.

It wouldn't hurt the rifle as long as the screw doesn't stick out on the inside of the receiver to interfere with the bolt or anything. If you're trying to completely free float the barrel you might end up with barrel droop issues. A 2-3" pressure pad in front of the v-block is really the best way to go. You can always go with a after market receiver and threaded tenon barrel. If you don't mind spending a few bucks, buy a Kidd super-grade.

I have a 10/22 and I just bought a green mountain barrel for it. I had a barrel v-block/bedding block/tensioner under the barrel 2-3 inches past the end of the reciever with the old barrel.
I took it out though, should I put it back in?

I would bed 2-3" but whatever works for you. You need to realize these barrels aren't attached to the action like our centerfire rifles. They are simply slipped on and held from moving forward by the v-block. The receiver is shit aluminum at best. Do you feel that your heavy barrel hanging of the receiver with nothing supporting it is adequate?

I don't really know I the barrel is being adequately supported, so I guess to be safe, I'll just put the v-block back in. It'll either do nothing, or support it, right? It definitely won't affect accuracy in a negative way?

Yes you should have your v-block and screws back on the rifle. Without your v-block your barrel will eventually come off from the bolt hitting it. How long that would take is anyone's guess. Plus it keeps the extractor slot on the barrel timed with your extractor.

To be more clear, I have the v-block that holds the barrel in the action installed. However, I'm wondering if it would be better to have a seperate device that is shaped like a "v" installed in the forend. It's a v with a screw in the bottom which funtions to create pressure against the barrel 2-5 inches in front of the action. I had it installed with my factory sporter contour barrel about 2-3 inches in front of the reciever, and did notice a difference in accuracy.
However, that was not a match barrel, and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to reinstall.

Yes. Usually does help. Put it in with minimal pressure, then add a half turn at a time and fire successive groups until groups shrink then begin to enlarge.

Where do we get these products. Just put on a Shilen brrl on and was worried about the stock squeezing it too much. So we don't need to FF our .22's?
