none of your business
I've got a Doctor Optics mini red dot sight mounted on a Olympic match pistol.I don't shoot the pistol much but when I dug it out and shot this weekend I noticed a bunch of flare coming off the dot.It looked like it was going super Nova,LOL

Is there any red dot sights nowadays that have a sharp defined dot that is small like 1-2 moa in size ?

Thanks

Re: " Sharp" red dot?

I have used quite a few of the mini red dots ( Burris, JPoint, Docter, CmoreSTS, Cmore, Trijicon RMR, Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated, and Leupold Deltapoint) and to a degree all of them have dot bloom with the exception of the Leupold. By leaps and bounds the triangle is the sharpest illuminated reticle I have seen.

Truth be told my eyes are getting worse with age.I tried the reading glasses with that red dot and it made the bloom worse.I guess it's time to get a eye examination again.

Thanks for making me feel old,LOL...just kidding.

Thanks a bunch smokshwn! I'll look into the Leupold.

As for the Doctor sight, I say this because I have an astigmatism, and a fairly significant one at that. When I'm wearing my contacts to correct it, my Doctor sight is clear and round. With my glasses that do not correct the astigmatism so well, I get the flaring on any red dot including my Aimpoint.

Do a search on astigmatism here, as the subject has come up a couple times in the past few months.

No problem at all. With any of the other RDS' it seems that people will perceive the dot differently from user to user and each user when given different sights of the same brand can experience different levels of sharpness. IMO I think the tolerance allowed for the mechanism used to project the dot allows a certain level of distortion as well as whatever image properties/eyesight brings to the table.

I don't know technically what Leupold is doing differently but it is the best execution I have seen yet. That is based on the view through 10-15 display examples and two of my own that I use frequently.

Had to ask..... </div></div>

I went back and forth trying to figure whether to look at the dot or the target and it seemed to be equally bad either way.It must be my eyes because I don't remember having so much trouble before.

I know I can do fine with some readers for my iron sight pistols. The front sight is as clear as ever.

No it automatically adjust to ambient light.

If I got a adjustable red dot that might help.

Re: " Sharp" red dot?

I believe Redmanss hit the nail on the head. I too have astigmatism and have the same problems. I wear my "far " glasses when shooting with a red dot.
Yet, with that being said there is a difference in red dot " roundness"" and/or " flaring".
I have one "UltraDot" red dot sight with a 4 moa dot that is nice and round. But had to sent another " UltraDot" ( MatchDot, variable dot sizes) back due to the dot looking like a cluster of 3 dots intertwined. Had 3 other guys at my club verify it.
I have a inexpensive "Konus" red dot that has a nice round dot. So sometimes a inexpensive unit can look better than a more expensive unit.
I've actually ordered two of the same sight to be able to "pick" the the better of the two.
Sometimes it seems as though it's the luck of the draw.
So if you have the opportunity to look through the sight by all means do.

Re: " Sharp" red dot?

Have you tried turning down the illumination slightly? That seems to help me when I have the same problem.

I'm with the group, the Deltapoint is quite the product. I recently purchased a Fastfire II, and I wish I had spent the extra money for the Deltapoint. Nice and crisp, very quick to acquire.
