Well today I have to do one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. I have to bring Emma (my yellow lab) to the vet and have her put down. She was a rescue dog of the best kind, and man she was such a good dog with my little girl. She will be missed for sure.

Re: She was a good ol' dog..

Awwwwwww...she really looks like a sweetheart. So sorry for your loss.

I have a weenie beagle thats about 12-13yrs old and he has developed arthritis in his hips and it makes me wonder each day just how much longer he has left on his life even though he thinks he's still a puppy and plays like he is, too.

Re: She was a good ol' dog..

Very sorry for your loss.
Keep those pictures. I have a similar picture of my first GS with my niece when she was a baby. Now my neice is grown and it seems like I just lost my GS, even though there have been 2 since her. That picture is both mine and my neice's favorite.

Re: She was a good ol' dog..

Dang sorry to hear about that, pard. I lost both of my funky little chihuahua dogs last year about six months apart. They were the first dogs I ever had and until they passed, I'm humbled to say I didn't really realize just how much of an impact dogs can have on one's life.

I pray that the pain of your sweetheart's passing dims and all that you're left with is fond memories. I'll raise a toast to your Emma tonight.

Re: She was a good ol' dog..

Sorry for your families pain.At least your wife didn't run over her.Last year my wife ran over my 7 year old sons weenie dog,and he was in the Tahoe with her. That was a sad day for my son.I'm glad your little girl didn't get to see her go like my son did.Alan

Re: She was a good ol' dog..

Thanks for the kind words fellas. All I gotta say is that was rough, she gave me this "look like whats going on" and we had her lay down and she just laid there and didn't make a fuss about anything, kinda the last testament to how good of a dog she was.

Go play girl...

These types of threads kill me. I think of my dogs as if they are my children, which in actuality they are to people like us. I am very sorry for what you and your family are going through but knowing that you rescued her from possibly being put down, living life with someone who could have mistreated her, or being stuck in a 5x5 cell for several more years is a very honorable thing.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Hope that you get yourself another dog. It is tough but it helps. Been in your shoes and it sucks.

Re: She was a good ol' dog..

I'm sorry for your loss, I hope you find comfort in some way during these times. She appreciates you more then you probably know for rescuing her and her thanks was being such a great companion. She lived a great life I bet and I bet you she definitely doesn't have any regrets.

Well said.

Sorry for your loss, been there-done that. The pain we feel from losing one is tough, but a drop in the bucket compared to the joy and love our dogs bring to our lives.

I don't understand cat people.
