Hey guys I’ve seen quite a few guys running long sleeve lightweight moisture wicking style hooded shirts in prs comps to keep them cool and keep the sun off of them. Does anyone have any experience with them or brands to go to or stay away from? Looking to pick up a few

Patagonia makes some for fishing. Can be had in normal colors vs camo.
They may be enviro nut jobs, but they make quality gear and stand behind it 100%. Some of the best CS and returns for issues I have ever seen.
Once bought a ski jacket at a yardsale for $5 with a bad zipper. contacted them to see about cost of replacing it, as it was a $300 jacket. They had me ship it (emailed me a free label) and fixed it for free........
I also have a Grundigs fishing shirt, doesn't have the hood and is a button up. UPF rated and very cool on hot days.

Another vote for Patagonia sun hoodies. I've also had very good luck with the new sun hoody from Black Diamond. Just spent almost a month living in it on a high altitude climbing trip in Peru, up to altitudes of 20,000 ft, where the sun is brutal.

Columbia also makes them - we have an outlet store nearby and routinely pick up their "professional fishing gear" (PFG) UPF rated hooded t-shirts for $25. The bonus is, they're cut for the average fisherman, which is a bit less athletic than the aforementioned average climber.
Huk is what I have been wearing for matches all year, no hood on mine though... I'll be getting one of those for next year.
I wear a lightweight, long sleeve hooded T-shirt at all the PRS matches I shoot. It’s not anything special, just lightweight cotton. But I wear a under armour heat gear shirt underneath to wick the sweat. It’s not something I put a lot of thought into, just something to keep the sun and bugs off my arms and neck.
I've got a shirt of this type from Orvis, and really like it. Wear it frequently during hot Texas summer days.

Sweet guys. Thanks for the feedback. I just got done with a match in the Nebraska Sandhills and found myself wishing I had a light weight long sleeve. Wasn’t terrible by any means but I would have loved it to keep the bugs off.

Columbia PFG hooded fishing shirt, wear them all the time fishing. For a jersey, Gemini is a company we used before for jerseys for hs bass teams. They are decently made.
If you do not want a hoodie type moisture wicking shirt, for the price you can not beat the hanes shirts

Completely OT but I might suggest to not wear these type of shirts while driving to and from the matches (Anywhere really)...
IF you are involved in a vehicle accident these type of shirts are horrible at melting to your skin at relatively low heat (per fire standards)
@clcustom1911 Could probably feel you in on the why's and such not....shit..he may know a brand that can provide the same protection without the melt....

Was going to order one and had to laugh, $19 shirt and $9 shipping! They always try too get you coming or going!
They might as well charge a handling fee also! Just kidding- that actually really irritates me. If you don't want to handle it then don't sell it.... No, not complaining, more so making light of it and the fact that they give you a decent price on something then charge you a bit of a higher price for shipping. Lets be honest, they will probably throw it in a small plastic shipping bag and pay $1.50 to stick it in the mail.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again. A UPF rating isn't something intrinsic to the fabric. It's not a treatment or a special feature. It merely states that someone did some testing. Really, it's a way to charge more for the same thing. How many of you have actually gotten sunburned underneath a garment? I never have. Hell, the "farmer tan" is testament that getting burned under a shirt isn't really a thing. Wear a light weight, loose fitting, wicking, tight weave, long sleeve shirt. I have a couple underarmour hooded "heat gear" shirts that I wear. I've never gotten burned.
The sailing community has shirts like that as well. Gill and Regatta Gear are two off the top of my head that come to mind. They usually sell them under the name of “performance sailing shirts” instead of your typical cotton tee.
Yeah, I think he said a long sleeve with padded elbows, but then wanted to add rear pockets like a cycling jersey would have. I think this would be really handy for having an extra mag or two, while not interfering with laying on your stomach to shoot. It would also be handy to carry a kestrel and not have to worry about wearing it on your belt. Heck, even a pen and the match booklet and phone since those are things that constantly need to be accessed.
I wear Cabela's guide shirts and Columbia PFG shirts here in Arizona. I wear the hooded long sleeves in the summer because it keeps the sun off of my neck. I also wear them in the cooler months because they work well in cooler temperatures also.
