He's so far away from the ridge which has a hump, did he even get a shot off? Maybe all shots came from the window? If a cop popped up to investigate was unexpected, they had to rush things or they wouldn't be able to hide the winder shooter.

You must not have significant experience with shooters and shooting. Listen to the cadence. The first shot missed. Trump pauses, likely slightly stunned by the bullet's sonic boom near his ear. This is the bullet that was captured in the photo. The shooter took just over a second to reacquire and shot again, hitting Trump in the ear. Trump reacted, touching his ear, then looking at his hand and noticing blood (as he stated at the RNC convention), then ducking and hitting the griund as the third shot is fired hastily and misses. Very quickly afterwards a fussilade of shots occurs... this is when the people in the crowd are struck. The audio indicates a total of 8 shots fired within the first several seconds. (I've played it back and counted. The last 5 cover the 4 hits on three people plus the equipment hit.) There is one shot well after this initial series, I think it's the SS taking out the shooter.
I'm sure the shooter was surprised his first shot missed. He fired again, nearly missing... and then his opportunity was gone. My bet is that he had the rifle slightly canted to the left, was straighter but still canted for the second shot. That's what happens with an optic a couple of inches above the bore centerline when it's canted... the shot is off to the side of the cant.

Yep. I took the oath when I was 17. The officer who led us told us while the obeying lawful orders part ended when we left the service, the protect and defend part was a lifetime oath... so think carefully before taking it.

It’s just odd that they would purposely misrepresent his location. What’s the motive for showing it in the wrong spot?
Coincidentally, it aligns with a window in the 2-story bldg behind him, which has excellent Line of Sight to the podium. If you set up an urban hide with double loopholes in there, nobody would ever see you and the shot(s) would be muffled already.
