I had a thread a while back about a longrange build . I decided with a 260 and remington action in aics. With this being said I'm going with a AI AE in 260. 26 inch barrel and OD green skins, fixed stock. Thought he might as well have a top notch rifle. It's his Xmas and birthday present. Ill take pics and post as he receives it Xmas morning. Thanks to TimK, Blutto77, Graham, and others who helped me decide on caliber.

You looking to adopt? I just had my birthday, but you could still get me one here in time for Christmas. Haha. Seriously though, he is a lucky boy. Make sure to take some pictures of the first trip to the range too.

Dang, your making me look like a terrible dad. All I got my son was a 22 cricket. He is only 7 though. :)

It don't matter what you buy them, that don't make you great dad. It's about spending time, setting good examples, and helping him grow up to be a good man. That's what makes a great dad, that's what's important and I've failed in the past with some of them. But hey, you live and learn. Thanks guys!

Very well said. Only problem is, the poor kid won't have a single excuse with that equipment :)

Lucky kid for sure. I'm hopefully about to start a 6mm creedmoor build for my 11 year old daughter. She loves shooting and is a dang good shot also and has shot to 525 with a sub moa group before which was pretty dang good imo! Those days at the range with her are some great times and ones I will always remember and cherish. I'm just glad daddy's little girl wants to shoot guns with me because she is pretty far away from being a tomboy.

Are any of you looking to adpot? lol. My parent's buy me nothing in the way of firearms and accessories, so I work for that stuff. They're at least kind enough to get me other things I want and to have allowed me to "buy" my two rifles (I technically paid for 'em) and put them in their name when I was under 18 so that's the least I could ask for.

I'm sure he will be one happy camper though! and you'll get to spend some quality time at the range with him.

Boys first kill with ai was 7 point, weighed 230 lbs. shot it at 230 yds. Perfect shot. When I zeroed it he shot 3 shot group, first two shots were same hole. He messed up the third. 1/2 inch high, I was videoing him and he move a tad . This gun is laser with 139 scenars from southwest.

That's a top notch Xmas present, Dad! I remember my son's face when I he got him a Colt AR15 Match HBAR 9 yrs ago when he was 14, he had no idea even as he was opening the box.

This wasn't a Christmas present just for my 11 year old daughter but she will end up shooting it more than anyone. It was bought as a gun the whole family could easily shoot past 500 with very little recoil

6.5 grendel from precision firearms . She had no problems to any of the distances I could actually let her shoot to on that specific range (out to 315 or so)

that's awsome man, need to get together and shoot seeing your in Hoover.

No worries man, it just made post better to me. Love seeing the young ones shooting!

Yep it's something that she really loves to do and I really Cherish that time with her. At 11 she has shot to 525 with my bolt guy and continually nailed a 4" plate shot after shot. It takes her a while to get setup and in position since she can't really throw the gun around like an adult but she will get there. We do a lot of dry fire practice at home which I can definitely see showing when we get to the range. She doesn't have to lookup to dial a dope and has a very good trigger pull. I had a horrible one so it took a long time to fix so teaching her correctly to begin with will hopefully help her more in the long run. She wasn't straight behind the gun in that picture but was later corrected after I saw a small amount of bipod hop. The bipod was broken anyway and is a pos. Three atlas bipods are on the way as I type! :)

She is also my loading partner :) I don't know many 11 year old kids much less girls who can say they loaded every part of the bullet that they shot to 500+ yards and hit the target. I'm only doing this so all those little boys will leave her alone. Her 6th grade dance has already happened and freaked me the hell out!

I know how you feel, my little girl just turned 3 and I am already worried to death. First little boy come nocking at my door is going to get a rude awakening.

She say she cant wait to go shooting with dad(along with 2 of my sons). I cant wait till the day that I can take my little ones shooting and hunting.

. Maybe they will meet a boy like mine one day. He is a well rounded kid who loves people. Not one of those punksters I see on regular basis. I also have girls age 5 and 9. When those boys come calling they better have their shit together or it's see ya!

Yep. I've already told my daughter if a boy cant come look me in the eye and shake my hand she might as well forget it. She has a pretty good head on her but she's not to "that age" yet where I have to worry about anything more than some crushes here and there and she knows I won't tolerate any little want to be thugs or whatever. I just hope that she keeps the same mentality as she grows older.

I also have 3 sons (6,5 and a newborn). I am already teaching them(2 older ones anyways) not to let boys talk talk to her. If som thug wannabe show up he won't last too long. I won't put up with any shit. I have family in the trenching business LOL

My kids are very stubborn, I hope there stubbornness helps them not give in to peer pressure.
