So since we are reminiscing.
about 6 years ago, when people were in a total panic and shelves were absolutely empty I had a ex-coworker call and ask if I would sell him one of mine.
I told him NO for a few reasons. I know I shouldn't judge but this guy was most likely to hurt himself or someone in his family ( I will prove my point in a minute). But my biggest reason was in my head "if the time comes how the hell will I replace it myself".
he called almost every week for 8 months, had other friends call me also. I started to notice the market was weakening a little and guns were starting to show up on shelves a little.
So when he called next I said sure, $2500. He showed up in minutes. He drove away with a NIB Rock River I had purchased about 5 years prior for $900. I had not even opened the box since the day I bought it (that is how stock piling works). I threw in 200rds of wolf ammo to make him feel like he got a good deal.
To prove my point on how should-not-own-a-gun he is. He showed up a couple days later. I thought he wanted to back out of the deal. Nope he couldn't understand how it worked. That is when I found out he had never owned, nor shot a gun before ( he is about 20 years older than me so he would have been 63ish).
After an hour of instruction he was still not getting BHO release and mag release. I printed out AR-15/M-16 opperators manual from some website and told him to go home.
I bugged me constantly for about 6 months, "now how does this work" all the time.
He called about 6 months ago and asked if I would buy it back. Said he never fired it. I said sure for $600. He went ape shit. Told him "buy low, sell high" market sucks right now.
He still has it as far as I know. And I have replaced it many times over.
