Heya Folks,
I've been hanging out in the shadows for weeks now and after researching, using the "search" feature, and feel I can honestly post a legitimate question, I'm ready to roll.
I really dislike being the FNG and looking looking like a complete "dink". So, I wanted my first post to be at best, a decent one.
I'm looking at the Binoculars.Com Zeiss Conquest Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44mm MC AO w/ Rapid Z-1000 and the soon to be released Binoculars.Com Vortex PST Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP. Both are right around the $850.00 ball park (+/- $25 bucks.)
Both have an Outstanding warranty. With the exception of "Shooter65" and his Zeiss Boo Boo Shooter65 Thread "Zeiss Boo Boo", I've never seen any negative issues from them. (That one was a real pisser, yet came with a splash of humor.) I own another Vortex scope which for the money, has been absolutely perfect for my needs. (Strikefire red dot 2x magnifier mounted on M4 Bushmaster)I had an issue with the density switch, Vortex, hands down, no questions asked, quickly replaced the optics.
I just haven't any experience with Zeiss, and would like some input from some of you Guru's on them "Specifically" the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44.
Both are similar in my opinion. I prefer the 44mm Objective bell over the 50mm due to I'll be mounting this on my PTR MSG91 "20 barrel. The cocking handle would set just 3mm out from touching the bell. The 44mm would yield just a bit more desired space.
What are the advantages to having a 1" tube (Zeiss) vs. a 30mm Tube? (Vortex)
Yes, there are many out there that would recommend I save up more cash and buy something different, and that's fine. However, this is what I've selected as it would fit the "bill" for what I am planning. Both are, mid level optics and have above average glass. The reticles are both highly reliable once the operator gets used to them. I have a Leupold Mk 4 3.5-10 Mil-Dot and like it alot, but want something differant. (Besides it's already got a life mounted on my Rem 700.)
Any input would be greatly appreciated in my choice.
Thank you all in advance.

The Subject title, "Should I wait" is based on the fact the Vortex PST isn't due to be released until late April/early May. The Zeiss is available now. Wait for the PST or not to wait...)
