Decided to replace my flush cup with a Sikes rail for a little more flexibility. Manners had it back to me in about a week which was a pleasant surprise

I'm not a big fan of the Sikes rail, but there's no doubt that the Manners peeps are rare and awesome these days in how they handle their craftsmanship and their customer service.

I've had mine for a while and still, every time I pull mine out of the case I'm like "Dang, this thing is nice" lol.

So IDK what the deal is with Manners' heavier steel "MAX rail" for the TCS, but it's starting to seem like it's never coming out... I emailed their CS a few weeks ago about it, and they said they have no idea when it's going to be released.

I already purchased the 1.2lb front stabilizer weight thingy and 6 of their square 1.8oz weights that fit their newer non-A419 aluminum rail months ago (to have them on hand to play with once I got a hold of one of the MAX rails), but they've just been sitting on my bench collecting dust since I don't have the newest rail.

I run the OG steel rail that they no longer offer with all of the steel weights inserted and it weighs 2.6lbs and I am 95% happy with how my gun feels and balances at ~22lbs with a fat pig Razor G3 on top.

That said, I would like to push the weight more out front toward the muzzle as I like the way that feels a bit better (having experimented with stacking a bunch of wheel balancing weights out front on the rail before).

Allegedly (from Manners text on their TCS page on their site) the newer aluminum rail that takes the square weights weighs 2.2lbs... but I kind of find that hard to believe since my OG steel rail weighs 2.6lbs (and steel weighs A LOT more than aluminum).

Can someone who has the newest aluminum arca rail like in the pic below help me out and confirm what it weighs?

Theoretically, if it weighs what they say it does, I should be able to just order one of the newer rails and bolt on the front stabilizer thingy and end up where I want to be at around the same weight as I'm running now or a little more just pushed forward.

Had to do some digging to find it since I immediately replaced it with a 360 precision steel rail, but here's the latest version aluminum rail with all the weights...

360 precision steel rail weighs right about 40oz, and I believe the OG steel rail on my oldest TCS with all the weights comes in right about 37oz.

So it appears my hunch was correct and someone at Manners didn't weigh their rail correctly or made a typo (1.39lbs vs 2.2lbs).

IIRC my OG steel rail weighs 2.6lbs or 41.6ozs (but I'm going to pull it and weigh it again to be sure), so if my math is right*, using the newer aluminum rail like in your pic with the front stabilizer weight would put the rail at ~38ozs.

*Since 1.39 rounded to 1.4lbs = 22.4ozs - 3.6ozs (2 x 1.8ozs since I need 2 empty slots for the front stabilizer) + 1.2lbs/19.2ozs for the front stabilizer = 38oz.

IDK, sounds like I'll lose a few ounces overall (which I wasn't really looking for, I'd actually like to add a pound), but, it might accomplish getting the weight more out front and make the gun feel more front-biased like I'd like.

Honestly, it might be a lot of dicking around for not much return on investment.

Or maybe... DM me how much you want for that rail you're not using lol..?

FWIW the 360 steel rail made my 20" MTU barreled TCS balance perfectly with a slight favor to the front end and rear end weight in place.

I just got my stock Yesterday and yes it still has dimples, but I'm in Canada, we are pretty slow to get things

In case anyone is wondering... the MAX rails are starting to trickle out.

Sadly, my chassis wouldn't accept it, my TCS is drilled and has t-nuts to accept the OG steel rail and/or the A419 sawtooth rail... the MAX rail is a different hole spacing (what they're using now for the newer aluminum rail that takes the square silver weights), and even if my TCS did work with it, they didn't include any hardware and the MAX rail needs longer hex screws to have more than just a couple of threads of engagement holding the rail on. Also, in very un-Manners fashion, the one that showed up for me had one of its threaded inserts stripped or cross-threaded from the factory (where the front stabilizer was supposed to attach).

I also was kinda bummed that it only has the option to add the front stabilizer thingy, there's no option to still tune the 3 pairs of weights like I was originally told there would be. I mention this because, at least for me, the whole reason I wanted the MAX rail was to hopefully change the weight bias of my rig and make it more forward-biased and front-heavy, but without being able to pull weights out of the rear of the MAX rail it ended up balancing nearly the same as my rig already does, even with the front stabilizer weight, the gun was just ~2lbs heavier overall (when I mocked it up using just the first screw hole nearest the magwell that lined up).

I ended up just having to send the rail and all the weights back to Manners for a refund as none of it is going to work for me unless my stock takes a trip back to the mothership to get new t-nuts (but I decided not to bother as I'm pretty happy with my rig as-is at ~22lbs with OG steel rail).

It’s cool to see the rail has actually come out for purchase, but all the rest is pretty lame. Especially the threads being messed up and not being pocketed for additional weights like the original but I guess they figured the added weight didn’t warrant the pocket weights.

I tend to give Manners the benefit of the doubt on them deciding not to include the additional square pockets for weight/balance tuning on the MAX rail. I get it, most guys grabbing the MAX rail want max weight, so to me, it just seems like an honest oversight more than them dropping the ball, and I'm glad they're making them at least.

Manners' quality and customer service have been awesome, so I don't want anyone to think I'm taking shots at them. I've tried 3 other top-shelf stocks/chassis since getting my TCS... and I've always ended up back with the TCS because it just works for me and it's been bomb-proof. 3+ years of back-and-forths to the range and a pile of matches and nothing has ever come loose or messed me up.

That said, I do wish they'd do like a "TCS 2.0" or something... I'd be willing to pay a couple/few hundred more for a 6" longer forend with a longer, weight tunable MAX-type rail, so we could get our bipods out further for certain situations and play with weight/balance more (sort of ala Foundation's Samson). The current design hasn't held me back and I did already order another one, so... (reminds me though, I think I want to update my order to have them move the inlet back so I can try a shorter grip-to-trigger distance, just to see).

That’s fair about not doing the pockets, the rail is ment for max weight so pulling weight to then add it back in would be a bit silly.

Now for a longer forend TCS, that’s definitely something I could get behind and would definitely pay for. I’ve never had an issue with my PRS1’s forend but a few extra inches never hurt anyone.

Does anyone following the thread have a TCS with the inlet moved back (for shorter grip-to-trigger reach)..?

I'm wondering what the guys who've run them versus the standard TCS thoughts are?

I wear an XL glove (big palm, shorter fingers) so the standard TCS fits me pretty well, but I do prefer short triggers on my 1911/2011s (versus the usual long triggers) to more closely mimic the trigger distance on my CZs, so I'm wondering if I'd like a shorter reach on the bolt-gun too...

Aero solus and cut down barrel to 16in with a direct thread hellfire i had sitting around
