Re: SHWW Group

Tribe. Practice up with the pistol, & carry it where you can get to it quickly in a pinch.

Then if there are any bear problems we can all have bear-kabobs for dinner that night.

Re: SHWW Group

Let's see, shooting skills a work in progress(gross understatement most likely, particularly with a pistola), navigational skills OK though. Carl if you have your second shoot in far eastern WA or North Central WA, I can probably help with setup as I normally work M-Th.

I'm interested in competing, but will have to wait a bit to give you a definitive answer. However, if I could reprogram TSI's GPS or change his declination on the compass, that might be worth the price of admission itself

Angry bear vs pistol? Bear wins.

Re: SHWW Group

Tribe, that's what the Ole Thunder Stick slung over your shoulder is for.

In all seriousness breaking your leg running around in the dark is more of a risk than the critters.

He may win, but after a mag full of whatever I have on me he isn't going to be happily enjoying the victory.

Besides.....I'd be more concerned about running into 1911fan and Milanuk in the dark......

Re: SHWW Group

So far its looking good. Relax though. It won't be where we do the Steel Challenge. It will be more, lets say... central location. So, don't worry about the bears and other critters.

Besides the match it will be a great training event for those of you who like to hunt. Problems to solve, besides the navigation.

Recon and surveillance for a hit just at daylight.....?? Sounds like a true "sniper" match. I certainly don't claim to be one of those guys, I'm way too lazy, but would be interested in the match pending other commitments.

Yep, R&S = Recon & Surveillance
BMNT = Begin Morning Nautical Twilight

This sounds like a fun field exercise! I would miss some school for this...

Re: SHWW Group

Wow. That sounds ridiculously fun. I sort of feel like I've stumbled upon the the lost boys secret hideout in reading SHWW. I mean pirate ships, underwater tigers, camp outs, mysterious pre-dawn missions. This is awesome.

Re: SHWW Group

This sounds like a lot of fun,... just wondering where it is,... any 'restriction' on a long-action? I was thinking of a .270 Win,.. nothin' overpowered,... It'll only reach out to 1500-yrds with 165gr Matrix's before going subsonic

I'm looking to put another comp together for June 30th - July 1st 2012. This will be a true shoot move and communicate course of fire covering two days. Rifle and pistol stages of fire and land navigation (GPS will be allowed) to each shooting stage of fire.

Shooters will be dropped off in a unknown location. Shooters will be given a grid to their first shooting station and time will start.

Without giving out much more details than I already have I think you get the general idea.

Let me know.

This looks good to me. I am trying to make any of them I can at this point. I'll check back for sign-ups unless I missed them somewhere.

A BIG Thank You to BigWheels for having myself and Unknown out at the range up in Acme. We had a great day, the weather was perfect, and I took my very first shot at beyond 1K (1250) and hit my first time out of the gate. Here's some photos of BigWheels and Unknown going 700-800 and one panoramic of the range.

Re: SHWW Group

You guys are welcome. Congrats on a 1st rnd hit @ 1250. Actually we all got 1st rnd hits out there.
laugh.gif
You both shot well.
I guess Tribe must have been a LONG way away yesterday, as the weather couldn't have been better.
wink.gif
Less than 2 mph wind but it was switching back, & forth a lot, as usual for up there. After you left I thought about going up to the 1950yd spot, but figured with the ground frozen I couldn't see any splash, so I left a little while after you did. A good days shooting.

Re: SHWW Group

Hey guys, here is the location of where I want to host a match this summer. It will be a smaller match, and my first as a MD. But it should be super fun.

This is some pictures of my little range!! We could stretch it out to about 3000 yards.

And possibly a round or two across the river!!
laugh.gif

BTW, is that legal???

Re: SHWW Group

looks sweet jake!! might be even more of a fire hazard than ellensburg in summer though, which is perfect because summer time is for boating not laying down on the hot as ground getting cooked.

I vote for early june for the match, if my vote matters at all.

Hell... I've got no idea.... I just would have sworn I read something hokey about shooting over body's of water... kinda like shooting over roads....

Re: SHWW Group

Jake, that place looks awesome. I'm definitely down for a match there!

Also, my new rifle that JD (hsss) built for me showed up today. It's a .260 built on a Surgeon 591 action. I'm heading out tomorrow to shoot it a bit and get a load cooked up.
