It's not really much of a problem keeping track of the points, I'll just have to figure out the scoring system. My guess is it'll be something like winner gets 100 series points and then those below get a % of that 100 based on their score for the day. Series competitors would need to compete in a minimum of 5 events to be eligible and therefore an individual's top 5 scores would be tallied for the series standings. It's easily doable, and honestly I'd love to see you guys around the NW have a good place to practice and showcase your skills. We have a very underrated group of shooters in this area and it's time we start doing something about it.
Wheels are turning boys and girls, give me some time to figure everything out. There won't be any prizes for monthly matches, but we can try to put something together for the series if that happens.

All this sounds like a great time!!!! Love it.
I like the idea of minimum 5 matches.
A thought would be this. Average the shooters score after each match with his previous average. That way the person coming to 7 matches will still be able to compete for the cup against the person that attended all 12 matches. This would make it fair for people living a long way from the match. People living close to the match will probably be at every one.
I am very lucky to be married with two young girls, but that also means my time is valuable away from work and such.

It'll either be an average or the top five scores. I like the top five sort of thing because it allows people to still be in the game if they have a problem and bomb one event. With the average, you'll get people that won't attend if they fear their average might suffer. I'll kick around the series points thing, keep the ideas coming.

No offense but thats retarded why would you want punish the guys that attend every match but may not be the top finisher. everybody has bad days, it also encourages people to stop coming if they did really well in the first few matches.
I idea is to encourage attendance and if you run that point system it would be exact opposite. Every match should count, I don't live close and probably won't be able to make them all but i am still all for making every shot in every match counting

USPSA in this area has a championship series. Also, some wetsiders may be barred from attending because of weather/passes closed. I would be interested, if I can keep the funds coming. & get my DPMS LR-308 scoped, & a load working.
I'm going to assume that my 300WM is banned for these comps.

As for the passes/weather keeping people away....that falls under the "tough shit" category. I would be all over these local matches but as you may know limiting them to Sun morning is not going to work for me I have other commitments! Is there any way to stagger the days? Like Sat and then Sun or go for afternoon times?

Does anyone local do really good work on DPMS 308's? I have one with a 24 inch DPMS barrel that shoots pretty well. I also have a stainless Obermeyer 308 barrel blank with a 1-11 twist. I'm considering having the stock barrel (about 500 rounds through it) removed, and having the rifle built around the Obermeyer blank.
I know of a couple of really good smiths that do this work, but they are quite a distance from here. I'm like the idea of keeping my money local if it is reasonable.

This series thing sounds like it will be a blast!! I would make the january 1st match, might feel like shit, but i would be there. Might want to have a breathalizer on site, prior to any shooting

I am going to put in an order from Powder Valley and am looking to split freight and hazmat fees. I am ordering 2 8lb jugs for a 16lb total for me. It says on the website they can ship 48lbs with one hazmat fee. So that means 32lbs left or 4 more 8lb jugs. If you want single pounders or primers (I may order some of those if space allows)we can figure that out. Looking to do this in the next week or so. PM me. If you guys know a better or less expensive place let me know and we can do that instead.

Well, it's been a long time, but it's finally over. I just returned from my spot outside of Acme, & found that my large silhouette (Abdul) has been stolen. From the evidence @ the site someone moved him up the hill into the middle of the rd, & left him literally right on the side of the road where he was in plain sight to anyone who walked down there. He had been there for 4 yrs in the spot I had been hiding him. There are only a handful of people, (along with 2 other guys I have seen up there who may have known where it was, & I will be talking to them asap.) I trusted with the locations of my hidden steel. I don't know who is responsible, but I'm verry P.O'd. As a result of this, I will be returning to collect ALL my steel in the next few days, & will NOT be hosting another BSC match this coming spring. Another long process to find another place to shoot is on my agenda now, & this new spot will be a closely guarded secret.
To everyone who enjoyed the matches I have hosted, & were looking forward to another one, I am truly sorry. Also, to the people who enjoyed the use of my steel up there I am also sorry, but that steel was expensive for me to make, & was a real pain for me to get down there into position.

While your out there would you mind picking up the two plates i left out there that are on fire hose. I think it is a 6" square and a 10" square

Sure. I was planning on getting those as well. Assuming they're still there. It was foggy out there, & I couldn't tell if they were still there.
Also. Just to be clear. I don't think any "hider" I know stole it. I'm assuming that it was one of those other guys that left it out where someone could see it, & a deer hunter stole it. But I don't know for sure one way or the other. Right now I have "trust deficit", so all my steel is coming out of there.
As for my match. I MIGHT try to put the one in Mazama together this summer. IF I can get some help to set up, & tear down. Also that will require several trips over there for me to get FFP's etc. sorted out, & it's a 3 1/2 hr drive for me to get there, & the country is very steep, & rugged, so actually humping steel plates around up there will be challenging to say the least.

While at Ellensburg yesterday I could not locate the 1035, 970, or 872 yard target. Those were pretty much in line with each other. Now that I think about it I'm not so sure the 1035, and 872 yard targets were Scott's.
The bank of targets at 434 yards and 607 were still there as well as the ones to the left side of the range.

The 1030, 970 & 870 were mine.... I have not been out there... so........
Those stands were all held together with bandaids & bubblegum, and that was before I was out there last... before football season.... early August.
Couldn't say..... pretty sure that 10"er at 870 didn't get knocked over though..... that one was a BIOTCH
If any of you all do get out there to scout around, it would be nice to have a confirmed inventory. It would suck to drive all the way out there for nuthin...
