Thats funny, because That target was my Nemesis, and from the looks of the hit marks on it after the last match, everyone else struggled with it as well.
If I get out there again in the next few weeks I will take a hike and try to locate them.

I'm in Gig Harbor. I didn't know that Benchmark Barrels would do work on other folks' barrels...that would be nice. I know of a really great smith in the midwest who does fabulous work on semi-auto rifles at a reasonable price and turn around time. I just don't know of anyone out here.

My confidence has been restored! A person who shall remain nameless has come forward, & confessed to leaving my steel out of place. He has offered to replace it, & I am honored to accept. I'm glad that the people I call friends are people of character. The "Hide" should be proud.
I'll still be going up there to inventory the rest of my steel, & I'll retrieve some of it, but I'll leave some in their hidden locations for others to use as long as it gets put back in it's hiding place when finished.

Life is good in Eastern Washington Scott, the picture above just proves it once more. We mortals on the wet side just don't know what we are missing. I can say this though, thank god I have in-laws that I like me that live over there, its always an excuse to head that direction.

Are there any Marines of Scottish heritage in this group (SHWW) that would like a really fine USMC globe and anchor inside the Scottish belt as is done on Clan badges (except for the chief who doesn't have a belt around his).

The badge is definitely Scottish...I suppose if there isn't a Marine of Scottish heritage up this way, I'll ship it off to one I know down in Oregon. He is head of Clan MacKinnon, and served in Viet Nam. I'll wait a couple of days though and see if someone up this way would benefit from it. It is a really beautiful piece.

But it is time for me to pass it on...sort of a pay it forward. I have enjoyed it for many years, now it can be someone else's turn to enjoy it. It was made by an artist who specializes in things like that. It isn't mass produced piece by any means.

Family name deriving from Mac Neachdainn..... and so on, and so forth... or so I'm told...

I am certainly not worthy of the Marine badge... but I would be grateful for info on the artist. My grandfather gave me a beautiful crest, that got ruined in a move... been on the lookout ever since.

I picked up the patch on a trip the family sent me, my father, and my oldest son on, this last march.... pretty awesome.

Frickin' HARD up north.... Watch out for them Vikings....

Craig, when I left school unemployment was 25% among adults, if you narrowed that just to my gender and religion it grew to 40%. No real point in staying, plus you could never really own guns, so after a few stops, I ended up here in this wonderful country, My only hope is that I have given a little back to the place that has given me so much.

Pat, I have no doubt that could easily happen, in and around the mid eighties, there was in the region of 100,000 Irish under the age of 25 in NYC alone. The only reason I go back there is, that not only do my parents still live there, but my brother, sister and four nephews and nieces. Plus I got a couple of rugrats myself and I kinda want give them a little history about me. On a side note I still have the receipt for the first rifle, I bought in the US, an AR-15 HBar ($734) from T&T Gunnery in Floral Park NY. Still have the serial number, maybe someday I should look for it.

Charles can't thank you enough for bringing the helocopter and a driver for it so we could get some practice that there is no way we would have an opportunity to get any where else.

Hey guys,
I wanted to give you guys first chance before I listed this.....

Nightforce 5.5-22x50 with MLR reticle. It has moa adjustments and very faint ring marks. I had to look to find them. The turrets have a little wear on the edges, but its not bad at all. Looking for $1300.

I think it would be a decent idea to have matches at different location for this series idea. maybe the central location could be Wenatchee and have a couple satellite locations for people to attend. I would be more than happy to put a match on near the tri-cities depending on how many people there would be. maybe one or two over on the west side, couple in eastern wa, and the rest in central wa. Just a thought.

no offense but this is what i really took from the post, do it!!!


On a side note this will be perfect because i will probably not be able to host more than 2 next year max based on some changes at home/work. Again i am willing to let guys borrow my steel if they want to put on there own matches.

Best case scenario is that we have so many matches in wa that i can't decide which ones to go to.

Well, I can't make the 10-11th weekend. Something came up. But I'm starting my load work for the 208 A Max over Varget for my DPMS. Might prove challenging as I can only seat them to 2.090" to the ogive for mag clearence. I'm hoping to get 2400 fps or close to that. Got my scope mounted on it yesterday, so soon I can give the little .308 a go.

Well, the "series" that I'm planning will be only the monthly matches held at Wenatchee at this time as I know that can and will be able to happen. Next Monday I'll propose the plan at the BOD meeting and get things finalized. Right now it looks like we'll take an individual's best 5 scores to count towards the series points race. Winner of the match will get 100 points, all positions below get a % of that based on their score. So far, we've got enough people to have at least a small match on Jan 1, so that'll be the first one. I hope to have a complete schedule by mid December...just in case I have to shift things around from the 1st Sunday of the month due to other planned events.

This is not going to be the typical "match" that gets put on in this area. There will be more of a mix of shorter range precision stuff and positional shooting, just due to the range layout and the ability to run multiple shooters at the same time to keep the match times down. We'll still have some longer steel stages that will be out to around 700yds, but at this time that is the max range. I'd say be prepared to shoot anywhere from 25-700yds from varying positions and varying levels of stability. I'll try to keep you guys updated as this evolves.
