mike I am happy you came out and had a great time getting to know you stay safe while overseas. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of our military men and women, you are what allow us to have the lifestyle we do.

Actually, I apologize for the potty talk...

I am just VERY passionate about protecting the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">individualism</span></span>, and frontiersman type moxy that makes up this sport.

It is rare, and precious.

Think of the varying atmospheres & character differences of each of these local matches... they are reflections of the personalities of their organizers. Not some paint by number arrangement, dictated by a committee of know-better-than-you's...

Hell, you can look down the line, and see the character of the individual, reflected in his/her kit.... from rifle, to ammo carrier... it's up to the individual.

It's a slice of <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">PURE LIBERTY</span> </span>.... out of an ever shrinking pie.

It's the very thing that draws me to it, and I for one will work to protect it.

I'm looking for a good range to go to near tacoma. I have been to range 15 on Ft Lewis, and the Tacoma sportsman's club and didn't particularly care for either. I still have to break my rifle in, so i can't do anything too long, but i would like to become familiar with a spot that ranges from 100-600+. Also, i am in the market for know-how type resources. I.E. Manuals/books that cover the basics of long range shooting. windage, elevation, temps, humidity, adjustments, ballistics etc. any help would be appreciated.

Yw! I can not think of a better way to spend a nice clear winter day than hitting steel. Count me in for the next FSC in april and the pre-Findlay shoot in march if that happens. I will think about signing up for the Findlay Cup.. Is there really a helicopter stage? That is badass

Yeah, there really is a helicopter. Last year my teammate at the match borrowed my video camera and filmed his run on the helicopter stage. I'm trying to talk Laurel into shooting the match.

Seriously jeff get over it you have a semi auto in 308 and you can use it in all matches but one. it appears kettle falls is allowing up to 300wm after all so no excuses, i will let you use your semi-auto 308. So all in all the only match you are excluded from is the findlay cup. Nobody is taking anything from you. your rifles are your rifles you just may not be able to use them for a particular match.

I have borrowed rifles to shoot matches, it comes down to if its important enough that you want to shoot the match you will find a way. I would bet you $100 if you put out a feeler to borrow a 308 bolt for a match you would have someone respond in under 24hrs.

I was nice enough to cancel the march madness shoot i was planning because you told everybody you were going to host a match that weekend even though i had talked about it months ago. I didn't want to interfere with anything another MD was setting up, you then promptly changed your mind after i went and moved my match to April 21&22. If you really don't like the way things are headed you really should host your match with your rules, and try to right the ship so to speak.

Quit bitching about the one match that is restricted to a short action bolt gun and get entered in all the rest of the matches throughout the year that don't have that restriction....the FSC, Kettle Falls, NCW Monthly, etc. Oh yeah, why not travel a bit and hit up the SH Cup, or possibly the NorCal match? Seems to me you're focusing on the one thing you can't do rather than all the things you can.

First. I was just pointing out how easily people are willing to throw others under the bus as long as it doesn't strictly apply to them.
Second. I'll use my DPMS for comps once I can afford to get a decent trigger for it. Which may be quite some time.
Third. I was unaware of any post saying you were planning a match that week. Perhaps I missed it when it paged over, or something. And I said that I MIGHT hold one then depending on some factors. Like how overgrown the area has become. How much clearing the trail, I have had to cut twice now, needs this yr. Along with the factor I pointed out that I am setting it up with little, to no help. My match takes days, not hours to get ready.
So. If you were already planning on setting a match for that week, & I stepped on your toes. I apologize, & you are more than welcome to go ahead with your plans, & I'll keep the High Mountain Safari in mind for the summer months.

The caliber restrictions aren't designed to single an individual out, they're to help with a shoot run smoothly, or for safety reasons.

Not too sure how to address that...
Assuming I still had a regular job any more that would allow me the funding to attand all those matches. I'd love to. But as it stands now I'm in the first year of being self employed, & living from day to day on an average of $1500.00 a month. So you'll forgive me if I can't make it to NorCal. I wouldn't have slept in the back of my truck just to RO @ Scott's match in 9* temps if I had money flying out of my a$$. The rifle I spent MANY years building isn't acceptable to any MD now a days, but it's what I have, & the only one I'm realy comfortable with.
I have been willing to put out the time, & effort to set up matches for others to shoot, & take a small loss in funds for the benefit of the sport.(IIRC I was the 1st one to host a match on the west side) But no more.
It was a good ride while it lasted, but that's it. I'm done. I was shooting by myself before I hosted my first BSC match, & I'll continue to do so.

I will probably be running the factory ammo Copper Creek makes which pushes 115dtac @ 3175 out of 27" barrel, however i ordered 2 28" benchmark barrels yesterday.
