Have a 700 Tactical 16.5" 1:10 308. Looked at the numbers, and the 155gr SMK Palma (2156) looks pretty favorable.

Can anybody with more experience than me loading (none) & shooting (almost none) 308 tell me if these bullets do well jumping from BDL mag length into a 700 factory chamber?

2700fps reasonably achievable from a shorty 308? I plan to run 8208XBR.

Thanks...

This bullet favors a long jump, so you are good to go there. I had to jump them past .050 to get them to shoot decent...and 8208 is your ticket. I was at 2890 with that bullet, 8208, Winchester brass, and a 95 Palma chambered Rock at 20". It's a great bullet, good luck.

I have a factory rem sps v and loading at 2.870 from an AI magazine still had .100 jump. the sierras did not shoot well for me as they have a short bearing surface. I am shooting 155 scenars which have a long bearing surface way better. scenars have take a better jump than sierra 2156 and 155.5 berger's by far. I would venture to say that your velocities will be at or below 2600fps range also. my buddy shoot's your same 16.5 rifle with 185 juggernats at 2400fps with varget, for reference

Listen to 223ai, I couldn't get them shoot for S:;t until I started jumping them .080 or more, I have been unable to find any 8208xbr, but 47.0 of IMR4895 is giving me great groups and speeds of 2950 with no signs of pressure in Win brass.
