I am new to the world of Semi-Auto rifles and I have a Sig 716 Patrol that is relatively new with perhaps 300 or so rounds through it. In addition to adding a Battle Comp compensator, I removed the collapsible Magpul ACS stock and replaced it with the Magpul PRS stock, complete with new buffer, tube and spring. This reduced the recoil enough to where my wife actually enjoys shooting it, but nearly every round has become a failure to feed. The empty casing is ejected and the next round is picked up, goes almost all the way into the chamber but not quite. This was not a problem prior to the stock switch. Also, I noticed the ejected casing doesn't seem to shoot out as far as prior to the switch. What gives? I don't want to go back to the ACS stock as it is not nearly as fun to shoot, but a FTF on nearly every round is not fun either.

Check the gas valve setting and make sure it is on full value and not half valve (AKA Suppressor mode). The 716 have three settings: Off, Suppressed, and Full. Suppressed is a smaller opening that reduces over pressure caused by shooting with a can.

We are getting close. We tried changing the buffer springs with the following results:

Heavy Duty Spring - Failure on nearly every round

Original Stock Spring - Failure on every third round

Ar-15 Stock Spring - Failure on every tenth round or so.

Where we live we only have the opportunity to shoot on the weekend and the range is an hour away. This weekend we are going to remove the compensator and try cycling through the 3 different springs to try in get the optimal mix of reduced recoil and reliability.

Anyone get a fix for this. I just picked up a 3-gun heavy and want to put a prs on it. It's been rather sketchy as to which parts are necessary to make it run properly with the exception of a rifle length buffer tube. So I guess what I'm asking is which buffer and spring combo works properly once the rifle length tube is put on.

In 2011-12there was a big rush to put AR style rifles on the shelfs in stores. Quality control suffered and first gen Sigs 716 suffered from inferior bolts which caused most FTF and FTE's. I would like to know more since most stores are full of battle rifles now.
