Sig Kilo 10K Gen 2

IEC rule change, but the components were adjusted to have just a single skew for all markets and not lose performance and stay inside the new rules. The technology upgrade means no loss in performance.
I received mine and love them. I spent a couple hours at distance on a train up day at pigg river getting them dialed in for upcoming nrl hunter I have. They performed perfect. I did adjust the lazer a little bit but that was very straightforward. I find the glass to be very good and had no eye fatigue even when just sitting on them for awhile dialing in the lazer and getting proficient with the buttons. I am coming from using the 3k for several years so I’m aware I should be happy with them but I think there great. There lightning fast and the wind adjustment feature is so easy and fast to do also while on glass. The other day while adjusting the lazer I was easily hitting a small power line between poles at just over 400yds. That’s the power line not the pole, pretty dam good In my opinion.
I had gen 1 and have a Steiner 1535nm and Leica Geovid. I have a gen 2 as a backup set.
The laser is pretty much the same as the gen 1. I was able to hit a power line at 400 just like Simonsza1. I had to adjust the laser just like I did on the gen 1. It's a 5 and -5 which is the most adjustment that can be made. Gen 1 was the same way.
The laser is very fast just like gen 1. The single screen gives you everything you'd ever want and more.
The blue tint is 98% gone. You really only see it if you compare them to Leica or, even, the Steiner (which very much surprised me). It doesn't appear blue but just a little less bright than the others. I won't have as much trouble with targets in the shade like I did with the gen 1.
The wind feature is really nice. I don't see myself using it much at all but knowing it's there is nice. Simple button presses and the wind is input.

Well it arrived. Seems to be VERY good. I love the app and ease of use. It is very particular to being focused for the current user. I know most binos are in some way....but this one took a little more time to understand the focus sequence. It's still a piece of cake, but don't expect to just hand it to your buddy for his review and expect that he will get it focused just by turning the main focus barrel. You could get lucky, but most likely each eye piece and the menu will need to be specifically focused. Again, not a big deal and once focused for me, it was golden. The rangefinder is flat out amazing how fast and ease of getting little objects at distance. I had the 3200.com and though a fan, the Sig Rangefinder blows it and anything else away that I have tried to date. The quick wind adjustment is really cool as well. Didn't think much of it until playing with it.....Bottom line: So far so WOW!!
Question for everyone with them. I'm wanting to buy a wind meter to go with them to mount on my tripod. There's the one brand windflow or something similar that they actually detail in the manual and then there's the kestrel 2700.
Do any of them actually link to the compass of the Kilos and provide updated wind holds or do they all require you to input the wind through the buttons on the binos?

Unfortunately, Sig decided not to include the weatherflows with the gen 2s.
I've got a weatherflow lying around, but I haven't used it with gen 2s yet. I'll see if I can find the time to mess with the gen 2s and weatherflow this afternoon.
I often find myself pulling the kestrel out for some quick wind readings, then just putting that data into the binos. It has worked well so far
The Kilo 10K Gen 2s are going to work with the Calypso AB Mini. A rechargeable 7 day battery life ultrasonic wind meter the size of an old film canister.
So there is a new piece of calypso equipment interfaced with an AB software suite? Sounds great. I'm hoping this will also work with the AB in the new vector-x I have coming!

Wished the Gen 2's had lens caps but not a big deal. Like others have said, the laser is very quick on these.
I tried to pair mine up to my friends Kestrel but could not get it to read out the ballistics on the binos.

I've known of these and been around a few. It sounded as if there is a new AB derived unit, but I probably didn't understand him right.It's already available, take out your credit card.

It does. However, it uses the kestrel to do the calculations. I noticed a couple things when using my 5700X with the gen 2s- the kestrel needs to be really close to the binos and the kestrel allows for more user error. My kestrel would disconnect from the kilos once it passed 3ish feet from the binos. There's probably a setting for it somewhere, but I couldn't figure out how to have the binos send inclination angle to the kestrel automatically. IMO, the kilos make it easier for the user to aim at the target and have everything they'll need in one image. It's also super convenient to get all of your holds while you're also finding the stage targets at matches. You're already searching for targets, you may as well simultaneously get your data.
I'm still an amateur with the kestrel, so the kilos are just easier for me to point and get numbers.
Yes, I got them to communicate and the results shows up on both binos and Kestrel now. Not sure I can dictate to either use the binos or the Kestrel solver but it works pretty seamless albeit slightly slower when ranging a target.
Is the glass better on these or are people saying they are better because they reduced the blue tint? I have the gen 1s and I love them. I don’t mind the blue tint, but if I had the option, yea I’d like it reduced for sure.
Leaning towards these over the vector x because of illuminated reticle (I’ve lost vectronix reticles in low light before), the ability to adjust the reticle (would hate somehow lose and offset the laser, have to send it in), and not to mention sigs warranty sounds hard to beat. Even if they don’t 100% replace it, at least they can fix it. I’ve heard the stories about vectronix is not even willing to work on their units for a charge.

Glass seems better. Less blue obviously but I see more blue in the right tube than the left, which seems clearer. I’m sure someone will say it’s the coating, maybe it is.

I’ll see what they say the turnaround time is but these shouldn’t have left the factory after a qc check. From what I can tell the slight blue tint, I'd say 80% reduced from gen 1s, is only in the right tube. That makes sense to me because that's where the illuminated reticle is and that's the purpose of the blue tint. To make the text visible.
Sucks that you have to send them back.
95% seems kind of subjective, but I’m not going to argue with a numbers nerd. In my own subjective opinion, they’re “way less” blue than Gen 1. Left side isn’t blue at all.
the 95% is a production number off calibration. I can understand the subjectiveness of how peoples eyes view color differently. But it was reduced 95%.
Got some time with my gen 2s at a match yesterday. They were flawless. Spent some time at the range after working on some load dev and stepped out to 1100yds on both a 6cm and 300prc. Again, the binos performed amazingly well. The glass is excellent. I compared them to a pair of 15x swaro slcs. There was a tiny amount of difference, maybe it's my bad eyes, but I didn't see much of a difference. I didn't spend a lot of time behind the swaros though. If anything the colors were a tad bit better in them.
The solutions were all on point based on velocity averages over 15 shots. In my eyes, the laser is the star of the show. I tried to go fast and I still had no issues with it hitting exactly what I wanted out to 1100yds.
My only gripe, if you want to call it that are the eye cups. Could just be my face/nose but I have to have them set just perfectly, pinching the bridge of my nose, to get a solid picture without it being separated in the middle. Again, could just be the shape of my face.
All in all, I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase and would do the exact same thing over again. Had a few comments from people in my group on how much they liked them after trying them out. One guy was really taken back because he had the gen 1s and the lack of blue tint was the first thing he said.

So I got off the phone with a customer service rep at Sig just now. He told me that no wind meter will link to the Gen 2s and update speed and direction while still using the internal ballistics. It seems you can pair them with a Kestrel to send the range info to the Kestrel and let it spit out your solution. Thought I'd let everyone know what I found.

So for internal ballistics with a wind meter paired you just have to re-lase your target & the new windage value will display, right? I'd like the availability of on demand/immediate updates/recalc w/ current environmentals (e.g. a simple re-lase), but I'm not really sold on the utility of truly live updates to the bino's display.
Currently it sounds like the only way to get actual live updates is to use external ballistics by either pairing to a Kestrel in a vane (boo). Once Calypso pushes their update later this year, then you can pair to a Kestrel paired to a Calypso. Or possibly Calypso's update will enable live updates using internal ballistics?

Just in case someone else is checking the forums daily for glass quality info like I was, I figured I'd share my experience with the Gen 2s. I received them yesterday. It's pretty smokey where I'm at right now but I was able to compare them side by side with Leica geovids (3200.coms) and I was pretty impressed. The only thing the geovids do better in my opinion is the ergonomics. They are a little more comfy to hold and the eye cups seem to fit my face a little better. But I'm pretty happy with the Gen 2s.
Does anyone know if you can enter a wind value for "wind 1' and "wind 2" and will it display both of those corrections in the HUD? Or does the bino just run off of one wind value? if so which one is it using(wind 1 or wind2)? The reason for the question is you can adjust wind 1 and wind 2 in a Kestrel so that you can a.bracket the wind and b.adjust the amount of aerodynamic jump that the unit is spitting out.
Additionally, I don't see it as an option when looking at the app without anything connected but I assume when you connect a device there must be a place where you can enter in a zero offset?

I'm not connected to mine right now, but my answer is leaning to No.... There is no multiple wind entry option.

Yes, there is a zero offset function within the gun profile(s). The profile settings are robust and very similar to other ballistic apps.

I spent some time at a nature reserve today with this years two laser range finding binos I have on hand for review, the Gen 2 Sig 10k and Vectronix Vector X. The idea was basically so spend some time in nature with the little one, get some pretty photos though the binos, and do a little rangefinder capability testing. I took a mountain of photos and quite a few very nice ones came out. I was quite pleased especially as I was only able to use a tripod for a few of the longest distance photos.
Its funny, in optical testing these are pretty much right in line with the original Sig 10k units in terms of resolution, CA, and other measures. However, the experience using them in the field does not reflect that. Having the blue tint gone really makes you feel like you are looking though much higher performing optics. I didn't expect this. Anyhow, here are some pics and I have a few more posts talking about the G2 10k's on this years review blog thread. I will also post there when I have finished writing the review. Testing is mostly done so it shouldn't be to long now.
