I got this for a hunting trip since my PLRF15 is too big and heavy, and I wanted the applied ballistic solution in it to save some steps between ranging and shooting. As regards the unit itself, I am very pleased with the software and the interface, and all of that, the clunky wind direction controls, not withstanding.

But don’t y’all fall for the 8K advertising nonsense.

It don’t matter if it can range a 2,000,000gallon water tower at 5 miles in the middle of the night.

Out here in the Utah desert on a calm spring day, I can’t get the thing to Range anything around me over 1800 yards in real world sloping terrain on this beautiful sunny day

I just thought you should know

Well that's unfortunate. The 6k binos have a lot of jam and I can range trees to 2000 yards buildings almost to 4000 yards. More than adequate for hunting for me.

Also sunny conditions, sloping terrain, and brush make it tough to get longer range returns.

Yeah, you know honestly, I bought them for hunting and plinking out to a mile and if I really mean business, I will bring my PLRF15C

The thing that worries me is that somebody’s gonna buy the hype and sell their first generation VECTRONIX and regret it.

I am gonna hang onto my PLRF until they come out with a civilian something or other with a 1550 nm laser in it. Cause that bugger will arrange anything out to 6000 yards.

I love the AB interface and all the on-board sensors, but I confirmed during a week-long bear hunting trip in the Frank Church last week: There is NO consistent "real world" ranging past 2000 yards with this thing.

That’s about right. Take their number and cut it in half, then cut that in half again.

there's only so much you can do with a 905nm laser

I mistakenly thought you could adapt to a hardware problem with a software solution, but I should have known that's not true from my #supertrickler #superspiller experience, LOL
