Looking to add a red dot to a Sig MCX Virtus I picked up over the weekend. I typically gravitate to Aimpoint T2's. However, with this being a Sig rifle the thought of going with Sig is tempting - I'm considering the Romeo4T. Also, I really like their Eotech-like reticle.

However, from what I've found in researching, it's speculated that their red dots are just rebranded Holosun chinese junk which supposedly Sig denies completely but they do look exactly alike for the most part. Does anyone have any experience with the 4T or know what the backstory is on these?

Price isn't a consideration but I'm not going to spend on junk. On the other hand I don't want to just assume because they look similar that they are.

I personally run the sig red dots on the following weapons and they perform flawlessly. Short barreled 12 gauge, Benelli M4 12 gauge, fully automatic M16, CZ Scorpion integrally suppressed 9mm. I have never had a problem. I have at least 3 differant models of them.

I’ve got two Romeo 5s with no issue besides battery life not being as good as advertised. But still lasted a year constant on. Definitely worth what they cost. I have the factory mount still. But I hear it’s good to replace with a aftermarket one for a aimpoint.

Another happy Romeo 5 owner here. Owned 3. Not one issue. Currently run them on AR 15 and 300 Blk out

There’s some torture tests out there on YouTube and what not of the 5 being tested. Held up great (edit- I think the video that is posted above is the same one I’m referring to)

Whether it is rebranded or not it works great, hold up well and is reasonably priced

I have a half dozen Holosuns, a couple of which I’m coming up on the five year mark with. They have been excellent and are now on my primary home defense rifle I trust them so much (displacing an EOTech. Really.). Since the Sigs are basically just rebadged, I’d buy with confidence if you can get them cheaper than the actual Holosuns.

FWIW, I do not understand why Sig runs away from the obvious Holosun connection for its Romeo line. Other than the fact that the similarity is obvious and therefore makes the company look disingenuous when they try to hide it, given my experience with other Sig products (P320, P365) over the last couple years vs Holosuns, frankly I’d think more of the Romeos if Sig explicitly said they were rebadged Holosuns.

I have two Romeo 5’s, I can tell you I won’t be spending aimpoint money again for a red dot. Certainly not junk.

I run Fenix flashlights over Streamlight or Surefire, cheaper and in my experience better. I killed one Fenix P1D with a three story fall onto concrete, otherwise they keep on working.

Side note, the profit from selling just one of these optics will keep a Chinese soldier fighting for 3 days in the middle of Provo, Utah when they finally invade our civil war torn country.

So I run Trinicon MROs exclusively.

Or the money you save can probably buy you a thousand rounds of M855 and take down way more than a few Chicons when Red Dawn happens.....
