Pretty much 100% agree. I’m very excited about the M250. And there are way too many people they’re planning to issue M7s to, who have much more important things to do and extra things to carry.Roger that. The most interesting things about NGSW are the LMG, the rifle used as a DMR/SASS, and the cartridge technology applied to smaller firearms.
Within an Infantry Company, here are all the duty positions that are going to look at the XM7 and say, “What the......"

I think the M7 has a lot of potential if you limit it to the straight riflemen in a squad. Everyone else keeps M4s.
But, there are enough expensive and sensitive items issued out nowadays that I don’t think the 157 will be an issue.

I think the main duty positions that will benefit from and appreciate the XM7/XM157 combo are Snipers.
Good 1-for-1 over the M110, though the magnification is limited to 8x on the top-end with the XM157.
It’s too much gun for a Rifleman due to the mags, even if that Rifleman is large in stature.
They’re going to re-learn this the hard way, same as they did with the M14 back in the early 1960s.

Milley was my BC in Korea. I thought he looked familiar a few years ago but didn’t put 2 and 2 together until I looked at my 1-506th yearbook. There he was, but much thinner of course.
The BC before him was awesome, LTC Fuller, former 2/75 guy with a Grenada Scroll and mustard stain. Best BC I had out of many across 7 different units.
For Colonel Fuller’s change of command, he got out there on the PT field at Camp Greaves and said in his heavy Tennessee or Georgia drawl, “Men, I believe speeches are like mini-skirts, the shorter the better. You guys have been a great battalion to command! Pass and review!"
We stood their bewildered with disbelief, because this is usually a 1hr affair minimum standing there listening to someone ramble on and on about crap nobody is going to remember or care about.

With that, hordes of Joes poured out from formation and dog-piled him like it was OK or something. Never saw anything like it before or since. Certainly wasn’t a Stateside thing.
Milley was more guarded, very quiet and always looking out the side of his eye, carefully managing his career. We could get away with pretty much anything up there, so he didn’t have to worry about anything other than punching his Battalion Command time ticket.

Don't forget bullets that are supersonic to 1300 yards and it comes in FDE which goes faster.
The steal head cartridge and the metallurgy used in the barrel to with stand the higher pressure are pretty impressive. Wonder if that will trickle down.

Posts a 1.4 moa group with a well used one. Same rifle has been passed around by all the gun tubbers, full auto fired. I do not know the rnd count. But I imagine pretty high.

Sig sent MAC the 308 version with scope and silencer. It's a first look sort of thing but he does shoot it.
I will ask, it is a free floated barrel so don't they all flex if you torque them? Why would clamping the rail make it more rigid since it is free floated? I may not be understanding the video.
It's free float from the barrel and to a certain amount, yes, they all flex but aren't designed to do so. Some are better than others. On the Sig, you can flex it and it'll move and favor the direction it was pushed, becoming off center. Any aiming device attached to the front section of the rail won't return to zero.
Arisaka actually makes a little internal clamp so it's secured from both internal and external sides but it's not out yet for the big Spears. Even the LT version can suffer from it and I have the Arisaka brace en route.

It's not just that it's flexing. It's that is stays cocked to one side after you flex it. It should return to center, like any decent AR handguard made in the last decade does.
I'm not sure what the mount attachment limiting hamdguard deflection is all about but it doesn't seem right. Is the HG being pinched that much?
There was the option of a musette bag clipped to the straps if you could get, "borrow", or homebrew one. Not the best of gear but much more convenient for certain troops vs the damnable haversack that had to be packed just so or the assault vests that were fine for brief approach but not so good for wading ashore out of LVTs in chin-deep water. Which they addressed later on with the M56 and M61 kit, being able to carry a pair either with an adapter or direct-clip.
I tried it on my Spear LT and can not replicate it. Makes me wonder if the guy making the video does not have the barrel seated correctly and the screws torqued properly. I do not have a gap in the handguard as pronounced as in the video. My rifle is also newish so it is not fully broken in.
Must be a problem for enough people that Arisaka has enough demand to sell a solution.

They actually make it for the Spear LT and a number of other Sig hand guards. I have one on my LT currently.
Do they do anything? I mean I'm not using a PEQ to shoot 600yds and at 100 it's accurate enough to stay center mass.
Actually yeah, it did make a bit of a difference even on my LT which has a short hand guard. Not earth shattering by any means but it does secure it from two sides so to speak and you can definitely see the logic behind it while installing. Not over the top expensive and easy to install too. Plus I've learned to accept that I'm a modaholic.
But yeah your point is totally valid. I don't think it's going to make a difference at a 100 yard range. Plus scopes on AR's are always mounted on the upper receiver anyway (PEQ's diff story). I have a Sig Cross and the rail from the hand guard extends onto the upper and causes issues with zero unless the mount is moved back so it's interfacing with just the upper receiver. On the Spears, it's the opposite, with a portion of the rail sticking out over the hand guard. Thought it was pretty clever first time I took the rifle apart.

Aside from Tony’s nonesense, has anyone shot one for accuracy? I have a 716 G2 piston that shoots .75 most of the time. I’m thinking about getting the 13 inch 308 SBR. I want to make it a mini DMR. Thanks for any input
