Have been looking at sightron SIII 8-32x56 went in outdoor store the other day and salesman shows me a vortex 6-24x50 pst just wondering if anyone knowes how they compare thanks

Re: Sightron vs. Vortex

I have both. Albeit different powers. Vortex is a 4-16 power and the Sightron is a 10-50. Each serves it's intended purpose well (Vortex-Hunting and Steel/ Sightron- F/TR) the glass is better on the Sightron. It really depends on your intended use and features you want.

Re: Sightron vs. Vortex

Get that 8-32X56 LRMOA reticle and you will LOVE it. Crank it up to check mirage for the long range stuff. Can't have to much power. 8X on the low end is fine in close. Got it on a 300RUM and have no regrets. But if you want lower power than 8 check out the Bushnell HDMR 3.5-21X50. Another fav. of mine that hangs out on a 6.5 gas gun.

I didn't want to say it but you're right, plus that leupy might need a 20 MOA base just to make 1,000 yard hits with a .308. 100 MOA of elevation adjustment in the SIII 6-24-50. You have to move up to Nightforce to get better glass...
