Right now I currently wear LL Bean Main hunting boots 16". I'm looking for something shorter preferably leather upper but equally as quite at least. I've looked at silent hide stalkers at Bass pre but don't want a camo upper. A cloth upper is fine also just not another rubber boot! I will prob wear daily also so they need to be very sturdy. What do you guys wear/suggest? Price is not a big issue if the quality is there. A good product goes slot further with me than just a cheap price tag.

Re: Silent Boots

Ewwwww I like those I've been looking at some other custom mocs. Keep the thought s coming. custom ordering is not out of the relm but is there anything I could possibly go buy at a store?

Re: Silent Boots

With this style of shoes/boots, custom built/fit is money well spent. If you plan to wear them "off road" be sure to get fitted or have them made to fit you.
Russel is the original and probably the best stalking boot.

Re: Silent Boots

my braintanned bison mocs are the quietest things i've tried yet, but they're strictly for trail & woods- manmade surfaces chew them up some. if you can find a good braintanner in your area they're not hard to make. lotsa patterns & helpful info online

Re: Silent Boots

I have some Russells and I love them. Tell them what your goals are and they will be very helpful.

I also have some old boots that I was really fond of that I had resoled in crepe and now they are another quiet favorite.

Re: Silent Boots

I can tell you what I used to do in the army for stalking. There is/was always a guy that resoled boots at the PX, at Ft. Lewis and Benning anyway.

I resoled two pairs of worn out black combat boots, one for marches and it had the thick rubber tennis shoe soles. The other pair had thin Vibram boot soles. If you take out the inserts, the boots will be very thin and flexible and you can feel stuff under your feet.

They worked really well in the woods, I still have 'em. I called 'em my "moccassins" and in reality, about the only thing quieter would actually be a pair of moccassins.

For $20, not bad. The only problem with them is that they sucked for road marches or long walks due to being so thin and with no inserts for support. Felt almost like walking barefoot, but if you want quiet you kind of want to be able to feel what you are stepping on.

Anyway, if you have an old pair of boots laying around, that is the budget way to do it.

Re: Silent Boots

This is what I plan on trying next season:

Vivo Barefoot Boots

I have been using "barefoot" footwear for about a year for my daily runs, and I'm sold on the idea. I tried stalking in a well worn pair of the running shoes and could not believe how much quieter you can be compared to wearing boots.

Re: Silent Boots

My personal favorite.
