Hey guys, Just got my form 4 back for my first suppressor. my questions to you all are these:

1. What do you regularly carry with your suppressor as far as paperwork?

2. what do you do (if anything) for suppressor maintenance?

3. what substance/compound if any you you put on the threads before attaching your suppressor to a rifle?

I appreciate the help/ advice!

Use a small amount of anti seize on threads. Make a color copy reduced to business card size or just bigger to carry in billfold or make a full size color copy of stamp to keep in rifle case. I know no one who has been checked but it certainly can happen. Better prepared than caught without answer. Most can don't need any additional care but I have heard of stopping up small end with a cork, fill vinegar and let sit 24 hours, pour vinegar out and shoot. Anyone have other thoughts? I have never cleaned mine

I went with the trust "path" to getting the stamp...do I need to keep the trust with it? I have asked three atf agents that question and gotten three different answers. I just want to stay out of trouble, but carrying around a 12 page legal document? I'd rather not...

My lawyer recommended reducing it to 16 pages per sheet and printing it all on one page (the abbreviated trust form - mine's actually 9 pages) to make it easy to keep a copy with the suppressor. Might need a magnifying glass to read it, but it covers the bases and avoids any potential issues. Technically you don't have to have any documentation with you (in most states), but why take the chance of something so easily avoidable?

Reducing it down that far is a good idea. I can laminate it and stick it in the range bag at that point. can I laminate the actually form 4 with the stamp? or would that invalidate it?

I doubt it would invalidate it, but probably unnecessary. The recommendation I got was to make a digital copy of the original, then put the original the safe and never use it again. If you add equipment to the trust, you can always print off the page with the list of NFA items. I was also told to just make a new copy of that page for every suppressor (i.e. have each one on a separate copy rather than a single list). There was a good reason for that, but I can't remember it!

My form 4 is through an LLC. I made several color copies of the original, and keep one with each rifle that I might use the suppressor with, and I made a reduced copy down to credit card size that I laminated and keep in my wallet. No one has ever asked to see my stamp or the LLC.

1. Just a copy of the approved form

2. Rimfire suppressors are taken apart and cleaned like I clean my firearms. Sealed models are wiped down.

3. Nothing, I just make sure the threads are clean on the host and suppressor.
